I went and spent $25 at the art store.

So I'm drawing, and I move to shift the position of my reference...

and whack. Brand new $5 6B graphite pencil shatters into 3 pieces.

It was a really nice one too. Woodless, thin plastic on outside to keep hands from getting stained. 98% of the whole thing was graphite.

:(

I also got 3 medium pieces of black charcoal, 2 charcoal pencils (1 medium, 1 hard), and a new, larger sketchbook (recycled post-waste fiber paper!)

do you use a pencil holder? I have one but don't use it often. I guess the leads are not really fine enough for some things though.

that really sucks about your new graphite pencil!!! but its good to see you are out getting supplies and keeping up with your talent!!! charcoals are fun to work with but SOOOO messy !! lol have fun with it and if you get stuck move to something else and go back to it later :)

I'd try to get a refund if possible too. Sorry to hear that.

Aw, lame. I have a toolbox full of those 'solid graphite' pencils, sadly :( I just stick with the regular ones now. Even though Cassie will try to steal them and chew them ;)
