Origins / History of Collies?

When colliesmooth mentioned in another thread that people sometimes ask if her Collies are Borzois, it rang a bell. It seemed to me that I had seen something about Collies having been deliberately mixed with Borzois and I managed to find the link:

So if I read this correctly, the Borzoi is one of the parent breeds of the modern Collie. And according to Borzoi Mad, not even the best specimens of the Borzoi at that.

I have heard this before. I read that when you dna test a collie, or even aussies or shelties, borzoi will come up as one of the possible breed mixes.

i did a family tree a few years back from one of my roughcollies , i managed to get it back as far as 1895, it was very interesting.
