I am a bit reluctant to post this since I just joined yesterday but I am trying every possible avenue to find Shelly a home. Shelly is our 8yr old collie/chow mix foster dog and we can not keep her much longer. She is very sweet and loving and not hyper at all. She absolutely loves all people BUT she does not get along with our other dogs. She has attacked them (unprovoked) repeatedly and it is becoming increasingly difficult to keep them seperated and also make sure that she has equal yard and house time with the people. This is making it very hard to potty train the pupps since it is such an ordeal to seperate them. Shelly knows her basic comands and is up to date on her shots and is also spayed. If anyone can help out let me know asap!! I refuse to send her to a shelter due to the fact that she is likely to be put to sleep or in a no kill live out her remaining days as a shelter dog. She defanately deserves a loving home for her to live out her days. Shelly is great with kids and cats, unless the cats are outside she thinks those are fair game. She does not have to be adopted by someone localy as I know a few people that are willing to do transports accross the nation so if anyone is interested or knows a good rescue that can take her please please let me know soon!! Here are some pictures of Shelly.

She looks wonderful! Too bad she can't get along with the other dogs. My house would drive her insane!

I read a book on the organization "Best Friends" I think it's in Utah, they have a great operation. Might be worth a call.

Shelly's a great looking dog. Since you don't want to give her even to a no-kill shelter, have you looked around for some who do courtesy postings on their website? I know there's one here where I live and they'll post for you to help spread the word since they do so much advertising as it is. Good luck with everything. **And I've heard about Best Friends, definitely worth giving them a call like Areias said.

I do hope you find Shelly a wonderful home. If she doesn't like other dogs than sorry I can't help...She wouldn't know what to do with all the animals I have. If for any reason I can be of help just let me know. I will look and see what I can do!

Thanks for the advice. I called there just now and had to leave a message they said that it can take up to ten days sometimes to return a call but hopefully I will hear from them in less time then that. Oh and the reason that I don't want to send her to a no kill shelter is because there is only one where I live and I have toured the facilaties and they are horrible!! I can't imagine Shelly having to live there for any length of time I would rather suffer and keep them seperated than to send her there. The only other shelter is the HSA which is obviously a kill shelter and I am not going to take the chance that Shelly is going to be put to sleep it would be a shame since she is such a sweetheart with people.

I have contacted a few chow rescues that I have heard of as well as a few collie rescues and none seem to have the room to take her, at least not the ones that called me back several of them didn't even return my call. I am going to be running another add in our local paper to see if that will work this time. I am very picky as to who she goes to since I don't want to give her to someone for them to just turn around and end up giving her to a shelter.

Bless you for taking such good care of her like that. :)
Is there any chance that one of those rescues might do a courtesy listing for Shelly on their website?

That is something that I have not looked into yet but it is defanately a good idea and I will probably contact a few of them again today to see if they can do that for me. Thanks and I will keep you all updated as to what is going on with Shelly in the mean time if you know anyone that wants a mild tempered lover dog that is trained in basic comands please let me know!

I thought that I would update everyone here to let you know that Shelly went to her new forever home last night!! They are wonderful people and only live across the street from my mother in-law so she is going to keep an eye out for her and we will be able to visit her whenever we are up that way! (she is about 35miles from us) I would have to say by far that adopting out a dog aggressive older dog is one of the hardest things that I have done. I will be considering that from now on as to which fosters I can take in. All I can say right now is YAY for Shelly!!!!
