A few weeks ago I watched the show It's Me or the Dog on TV.....Victoria Stillwell. She had to prepare an unruly Giant Schnauzer for Crufts. He made it, came 3rd, but it just showed how very very good the dogs must be to be accepted. Good on ya Eunice and your beautiful furkids....you must be so proud. That is one show I would love to see. Can I come with you Happysaz133???????? LOL.:D

Congratulations to you and Rye - that's great news:). A few months ago I went to the Windsor Champ Show and the Basset ring was next to the Borzois' ring. I have to admit I think I watched the Borzois more than I watched my Basset friends competing. Such beautiful majestic dogs.

Hi Jan and Thanks to you too, but this is an older thread and Rye Qualified way back September last year at Driffield. However my cold is much better tonight thank you and that might just be because Rye out of well over 170 dogs on a virtual show on another forum has just got down to the final 10 for Best in Show and even if he goes no further I am just so proud that he has got that far. It's not the real thing but it is great fun.

Dear Borzoi mad, Pellow and Rye ... GREAT GOOD LUCK at Crufts!

I was just looking at some information on their Web page http://www.crufts.org.uk/dog_exhibitors/judging_programme_breed/
Do you know of Mrs. Marston-Pollock? (Dear Mrs. Marston-Pollock, please choose Pellow and Rye!!!!)

Also - the groups are structured differently from Westminster and there are some dogs (the Leonberger, Hovawart, Sloughi, Greenland Dog) that weren't in the recent Westminster show. I wonder why not? Hmmm, as I look more closely at these lists, I see a number of dogs that were not in the Westminster show. It seems the Kennel Club of the UK has different dog representatives than the Westminster Kennel Club. A lot are the same plus there are many others. Cool! The Hovawart looks a lot like a Golden Retriever -- are they related? Grand Basset Griffon Vendeen - above the PBGV.

Anyway, I wish there was some way to see it on American TV. Maybe BBC America or public television will carry it. I hope so. If not, I'm sure it will be in the newspaper. :)

Hi Elyse and thanks you from Ryeand Pellowonce again for your good wishes.

Yest I do know Pam MarstonPollock and I also know her mothers Sylvia Marston she is an old lady now and the last I heard she was in a Nursing Home, But she had the famous Falconcrag Kennels of Borzois and Pam went on with these, and then went into Whippets and Sloughi's.

It is confuring as some of our Groups here in the UK are different from over the pond.
Hope you manage to catch come of the tv coverage. Thanks once more.

Slobbery kisses from Ryeand Pellow.

03-05-2008, 11:03 AM
The Hovawart can be seen in the working group of CRUFTS but not at any of the AKC shows cos not recognized. The number of hovawarts on the american continent is not substantial enough for them,to be recognized!.
The leonberger will be recognized, this coming yr with the Pyrenean Shepherd by the AKC.One of the reason, why I love watching Crufts is because of all the breeds, they recognized compared to the AKC!.
Again,good-luck to Pillow and Rye!.Please keep us posted,L.

Borzoi mad, I'm so dense! I just looked at the Crufts Web page again, and there is a click to the radio coverage right on the Crufts page. (Earth to Elyse! Come in, Elyse!) So I'll be able to get it right through the computer. That will work fine. I'll set an alarm to make up for the time difference. Problem solved!

Look at this cutie, looks to me a little like the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. I've been clicking on all the dog names I don't remember hearing on the Westminster show.

Thanks G & H Thanks for the good wishes but I am not holding my breath

Rye is not the type that Pam Marston Pollock likes but Pellow is so we will just have to wait and see as there coulld be loads more of the same type who fit the breed standard in his class and it may well boil down to who moves best on the day, and she may have a really difficult choice to make.
