Husky Owners: Have you noticed...?

When I am walking around the yard and my Siberian Husky, Olivia, is out there, she will periodically come up and lick the back of my hand and then go back to whatever she was doing.
I didn't notice this behaviour until my Dad pointed out that our other Husky (Oliver, R.I.P.) used to do the same thing!

Which leaves us wondering... Is it a Husky thing? Or do we just know how to pick 'em?

Do any of your dogs do this?

Amber my female Husky does this samething. I have no idea what she's doing.

I think that's just a friendly dog gesture.

See, that's what I would think too, Katz. Except, we have two labs of comparable age, and they don't do it. ... Unless you're eating something.

I think it might be compared to a child checking in with their parent like "Hey, I'm here, just so you know." But I just thought it was funny and it made me curious.

Yeah i know what you mean. My Lab-X Sissy does something like that. When you are outside and not paying attention to her she will come up to you put her paw on you leg and then run off and about 10 or so minutes later she will come back and do the samething again and again. Its so funny.

My greyhound Breagha does this. She just does it at random. Its sweet :)

Kira, whatever I'm doing.. will come check up on me every few minutes. Especially if I'm swimming! She balances her front paws on the pool top while leaning over to make sure my heads still above water.

Awww, Mocha doesnt do exactly that, she will just sneak up behind you, and nuzzle against your leg or whichever is closest, wiggling her head around and then run her whole body down you and then go off and do her own thing again..

She also likes to run over, stomp her front feet on the ground, butt in the air and bark at us if we arent paying attention to her. She wont stare right at you- she will look at you from the corner of her eye as if to act like she isn't paying attention either. Like, one bark at a time, about 5 seconds in between each bark.. but when you turn to face her, she runs off like crazy. I think it is just her little game..

A friend of mine has two Huskies - I've seen the younger female do this but not the older male.

My male mixed breed does this as well, but I just think he wishes to be a Husky. ;)

Colbi does that a lot! It's so cute, LOL. Sometimes she'll be lying down in her bed, and then she'll get up, walk over to me and lick my toes. :rolleyes:

In the morning, she comes downstairs at the exact same time and clicks her paws on the floor. If I don't turn over, she takes a step forward and does it again. Eventually once she reaches me, she shoves her tongue in my face, LOL. Then once I finally roll over and say "Hello!", she goes back upstairs. LOL. :p
