we use a booda cleanstep. here is a link to one. http://www.jemarpet.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=1946&catid=129
i have found though, zoey had accidents until i quit paying attention to everyone elses opinions and started using clumping litter. we actually use freshstep but my friend kelly, just uses a generic. she was having problems with snickers too until she went to clumping litter.
good luck to you. litter box training zoey was the best thing we ever did. never have to worry if you end up being later than planned. :)
just a suggestion when you start litter box training, give the pup a small area with a play section, a sleeping area and a litter box area, and than just keep expanding the area. zoey was totally trustworthy within 3 weeks!

hi dlambetz. i just got my girlfriend a chihuahua which is now 10 weeks old. Right now ive been tryin to train him to go on wee wee pads. i would say he goes #1 60% on the wee wee pads. and #2 about 10% on the wee wee pad. My next step is to try litter train him. hopefully it only takes him 3 weeks to go in litter box.
the guy at petco told us to try Purina Secondnature doggy litter. so im goin to try this litter training again in sted of the wee wee pads. also dlambetz how old is your chihuahua

Now this is just my opinion.....but I would say it's a waste of time training first to go on paper and then immediately re-train to go in a litter box. Decide on one and stick to it. You're setting yourself up for failure (ie a very confused dog and a very smelly floor) by swapping and changing so quickly.
Pup's only little - give her a break!!
Good Luck, let us know how you get on, and can we please see some pics of the pup? I've never seen a Chi baby, they must be tiny!!

its a he :D Me and my girlfriend decided to keep training with the wee wee pads. Because we travel a lot and it would be easier to carry the pads then the litter box. I just wonder why he will not poop on the pads? As i was typing this he pooped on the pad! I will post pics soon.

*update* i just bought a new fence so i fence his crate and weewee pad to a side of the living room. so far hes been goin #1 right on the weewee pad. but he will not go #2 on the wee wee pad. what should i do to help him go #2 on the wee wee pad?
my puppy wont poo on pads eather, wees on same one all the time evan though iv got 3 in house, i do i get her to go outside to do it, she just runs back in, got a 3 yr old thats house trained but cant remember how i did it.
From what I've read, those wee wee pads are scent treated to attract them to pee on the pads. So basically, using this only teaches them to pee using thier sense of smell, not training them to go in/on one particular thing.
I agree with MrsRottie, though, on using just one thing and sticking to it. Those pads and newpaper allow uring to soak through(sometimes), as well, so the smell NEVER really goes away. Not to the dog anyways, because they're sense of smell is much stronger than ours.
In my opinion, I would reccomend trying to litterbox. I know you said you travel and wanted something easy to travel, but if you want a very well-trained dog that won't have accidents, the box might be your best bet.
