So the puppies got their first experience w/ fresh air today. It was actually pretty exciting. I took them onto Post with me today to see AJ and show the puppies to several other soldiers. 3 of the 4 puppies have already been spoken for by soldiers and will go after they're ready. I had to sneek them down to my car for starters *laughs* (since i'm not supposed to have puppies in the apt) and they all were in the hatchback w/ TIkaani. (she's a pain to get into the car...but once she's in she's excited as ever to be going for a ride). Naturally they were noisy the whole drive over and the gate guard looked at me funny when I pulled up and he heard crying puppies and mom howling lol. (she howls like crazy when she gets excited) AJ brought several other soldiers out to see the puppies and everyone was coo'ing over them and one of the soldiers that's adopting our black/grey puppy was so excited to get to hold him. They all behaved sooooo well and just loved all the attention they were getting and seeing all the new people. And best of all, Tikanni was even well behaved. As soon as she jumped out of the car she didn't mind people oogling over the puppies and holding them and even let people pet herself. Once she got back in the car w/ the puppies though she got a bit more defensive. That all said and done, I gave them some water and we headed home (unfortunately Tikaani gets car sick so easily...i won't describe what I cleaned up lol) but as soon as we got home and they were all back in the playpen I got them some more water and they passed out immediately, even Tikaani. It was a heck of an experience for them and luckily it's been really cool here lately b/c it rains a ton at night and is overcast all day so it wasn't hot for them at all.

They're getting their first shots next week and I may stop by the Post again since not all the adoptive families got to see them today. Just thought I'd share b/c I was so excited at how well behaved all of them, especially Tikaani, were today. :D

Aww! :D
Sounds so exciting!!
Just be careful when you take them out... I got a puppy two years ago (my golden) and she was scheduled to be vaccinated on a monday (it was a friday) and between those few days she caught parvo (we think she picked it up when we went into town for lunch one day). It was such a bad experience, and the vet said he had not expected her to live. She had to stay in the animal hospital for almost a week, and she was so pittiful. Luckily she made it, but I would never want ANYONE to experience that again! So until they have their series of shots I would suggest not going anywhere where other dogs/puppies are at...
That is wonderful that you already have homes planned out though! Good luck with them all!!!

Yeah, I'm terrified of them catching something. They stayed in my car and since we were on the army post and I was at AJ's office there weren't any other dogs around. I won't even let them go play in the grass at our complex b/c there are other dogs that go to the bathroom and play out there. They get to run around our house now a few times/day outside of their play/ex pen

Skunk, they're not out just yet (this weekend!!! YAYAYAY!!!!)

yellowdog - they weren't exactly "outdoors" ...they were but they weren't. I didn't let them out of the back of my car accept to be held by a few of the soldiers. The only ground close by all asfault (it's a military post lol) and I didn't know what was on the ground so I didn't chance it.

On a sadder note :( the gray/black one has worms....AJ said he was cleaning up after him today when he was running around the house and his little pile had worms in it *sobs* so we're going to the vet tomorrow. I haven't seen the others w/ it yet but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
