As some of you know the foster group i was fostering for is closing down, there are 2 dogs that have been in foster care for a very long time now, and are in need of adoption, the foster co-ordinator asked if i would pass on their information.

Heidi a cattle dog mix, who was dumped with a litter of 2 week old pups and left to die, all the pups got adopted and went to good homes, but Heidi has not even bee looked at, she is wonderful, she has a great temperment, she loves everyone and is very well behaved, if you know anyone that can or wants to adopt her please contact the rescue on the link,

Frosty is a terrier mix, he is little and has the cutest face, but again no one has wanted to adopt him, he is a great little dog, not a bad bone in him, he is a little doll.

both of them can be seen here.

she was not part of the litter she was the mother of the litter, al of her pups went to homes but after she had weaned them no one even looked at her, she has so much potential, she is the perfect family dog, and loves everyone, she is very laid back for a cattle dog, not the hyper wild kind.

oops misread but still really sad. Gives life to babies so all those families can be happy with a new pup and she is left behind. :(Poor thing.

its very hard to find homes for dogs in my area, just in a 20 mile radius and all the towns in it, there are over 500 homeless dogs at any given time, thats alot of dogs that need homes and not enough people willing to give them one, one of the shelters in my area has a constant number of around 200-250 dogs at one time, and because they are a no kill shelter they are really over crowded and unable to take time to advertise each dog properly.

even puppies take a while to get adopted because we have a very large number or temporary residents, alot of people here on visa's from other countries, alot of rch people who only live here for a few months a year, and many who just don't care about the welfare of animals, or the problem we have with overpopulation and over breeding. When you look at the newspapers classifieds here, under the pets you see hundreds of listings, mostly small breeds, designer breeds and pit bull terriers. this area is also very bad on enforcing any laws regarding animal welfare, there is a dog i see every now and then on my road, that has mass hairloss and is very skinny, always tied to the back of a truck it looks like a black chow chow, but the police are above dealing with that sort of thing here, they just tell you to call animal control, and they are so swamped with things it takes them hours or days to respond to anything, and by that time its usualy too late. As much as i would love to help, the problem will not be fixed by one person, and im almost happy to be moving away from it.

We recently wanted to rescue a sheltie but the fee was too high. We are budgeting at the moment and well I thought giving it a home would be enough, but I guess they prefer to keep them in foster care. They wanted $400 for a puppy. I would be willing to pay $250.

What is going on with these rescue and adoption places?

Many rescues are run on donations only. Also, many dogs that come to rescue come with medical issues that the rescue pays for on their own, so they get the money back in the adoption fee. :)

I do realize that but why can't they work with the people. We would offer an excellent home. The dog would be treated like royalty as we love our dogs and are good to them. It's a shame really.

ok so quick update, frosty was not adopted they were just updating his page on petfinder so he is still looking for a home! so is Heidi and 2 other dogs in need of homes, here is a link to the other 2 dogs, one is alex, a senior age yellow lab, and the other is Lilly, a hound mix, she is deaf but knows hand commands and she is just a doll!

Alex http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=8997668

Alex is basically free, some one has already covered his adoption fee, he just needs to get someone to pass an application for him!

Lilly http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=8870171

these are the only dogs left from the rescue group, and all of them need homes, they are all really great dogs who deserve a second chance!
