Okay so I was browsing on the forum and I went to currently active users. Then is has all the members well above it has that flashing bar that says Your computer maybe infected with spyware...Click for Free Scan.
Well i always see that advertisement so I didn't think anything about it. THEN it flashes nude pics of females.

Okay I know something is wrong here. Does my computer need help FAST or Is something wrong with the forum?

did you possibly click on an ad accidentally?

Sounds like you clicked on an add by mistake.

Funny tho' I've never seen any of those "free scan" adds on the site.

Sure didn't, it was flashing that Click here for Free Spyware scan, then all of a sudden the nude pics popped up then disappeared and it went back to the Click here for free spyware scan.

PomeranianCrazy

no it was the free spyware ad ( i always see that on here) then it all of a sudden flash the nude pics and then went away.

Are you sure that nude photo thing wasn't a pop-up from some other site you visited that you just didn't see because it was under a window? I never get any popups from DF.

That's an ad.

Oh boy ... Admin is really NOT going to like that.

about all we can do is keep an eye out for it. that's pretty unusual, though. you might want to check for popups and spyware on your machine. thanks for letting us know about it.

No, I don't think so. That is an advertisement that somehow got triggered on the forum.

Right before that screenshot above, I saw another ad that was actually adult content. You know the whole 9 yards...Nude pics and all!

I do.

I feel unincluded in the new wave of libertine-ism at df.

And I'd be so GOOD at it too.

*sigh*

Agreed, why do they have to have stuff like that anyway??

You'd think they'd have a bit of sense, we are doggy people not doggers!!

That is MORE than weird. PC I would take vagreys advice and run some of the programs for adware / spyware like Adaware, Spybot Search and Destroy and HijackThis, just to make sure you don't have something garbagy on your system. I will also get in touch with the folks who handle the ads (like I did last time wihte barking dog :D) and ask what is going on.

Wow, we need to send a PM to admin to get this sorted out... sending one now. This is a family site we need not see that kind of trash.

Thanks PC catching that, good job!

I'm wondering if it's just your computer, PC? I would totally run some spyware/adware programs just incase. I've yet to see anything that isn't dog/pet related in my ads here.

Look at where that ad is located in her screenshots. It is in the spot where ads are placed. It wasn't a popup. It was an onsite ad. I've seen many, many ads that are very similar to that (with the suggestive but not adult content as shown above in the screenshots) in other places.

I'm pretty sure that Admin is the only person who can help here. The ad needs to be disabled or blocked (not sure what the process is).

Running a virus scan & spyware check is a very good thing & should be done by all frequently. I know you did all that (based on our chat convo last night) to no avail. These ads cycle so it might go away on its own. I don't believe that will solve your problem. But, you're likely the first of many who will see these ads if Admin doesn't block them.

I'd also do a virus scan and run a free scan from ewido. Spybot is good but for me AdAware has never found anything on my computer. I use WinPatrol and BoClean as well. I may be over gunned but, a protective layer is better than trusting just one or two. I feel better behind a router as well.

I'm sure he can report the inappropriateness to google too for others with similar sites where it is completely out-of-line.

I just spent half an hour refreshing the home page to see those ads, but all I got was the "Barking Puppy Ring Tone" and "PetSmart Big Brand Event" ads. I feel like I'm missing out.:( LOL :D

I use Firefox as my browser and you can add sites that have ads that pop up, etc by tweaking what sites you will accept cookies from. Just check the address bar when these pop up. Here are but a few examples whereby you can add sites that pop up or flash junk like this.

That's good advice as to how to avoid ads. However, it is still inappropriate DF content for those who choose other browsers.

I never noticed but I do not look for ads, so many guess I am tuned out on them, lol.

We do not have the ability to select ads to be displayed, but we do have the ability to block ads that are not appropriate. In order to block such ads, we need the URL that the ad points to. Screen shots and descriptions will not do the trick. Please PM us the offending URL whenever you notice an ad that is not suitable for this community.

I'm going to close this thread not because there's anything wrong with this discussion but because I don't want this important information to get buried.
