Weve recently had puppies, (chiwawa!)
and they were growing normally for a month or so,
until one day i went out and noticed that The puppies tails were missing.
im assuming the mother has bitten them off...
does anyone know why the mother would do something like this?
can our little puppies live normal lives without their tails?
thanks

I've never heard of mother dogs biting their puppies' tails off, but plenty of dogs live normal lives without tails. My corgi doesn't have a tail. >^^;<

very strange.. my girlfriend and i might ask a vet actually...
but she (the dog) didnt eat them, one of them was on the ground :(

Is the mom getting plenty of puppy grade food? She should be on puppy formulated food until she is done weaning. She may be looking for extra nutrients. But if she didn't 'eat' them maybe not.
How old are the pups? My girl needed alone time by 2wks. Is she with the pups all the time? Are they in a pen or other confinement where she can't get away?
I'm a mom and I can tell you-we need alone time :)
How many pups does she have?
Depending on age maybe it's time to start weaning them?
I want to see pics :)

she only had two,
three but one died at birth..
her bed is in the back of a shed,
and she can leave whenever she wants, (hah she DOES)
the puppies are getting big,
well, big for a chiwawa...
they can run and play, they were almost ready to have new homes..
everything seemed to be going fine,
we were so suprised to see them missing tails
