Infant mauled by Dachshund

This is one of those stories that doesn't sit right with me. The headline says "attack" but from the description that isn't what it sounds like.
He had taken his four-month-old son to the apartment of his girlfriend. She owns the dachshund but is not the child’s mother. The boy was left on a couch, wrapped with blankets, while the man and woman slept for several hours in another room.

They awoke to the infant’s screaming. Police believe the dog may have smelled urine and began chewing the diaper.

Things like this really get my blood boiling!! Why the heck did they leave an infant in another room with a dog of any type while they slept?? Some people shouldn't breed dogs and some just plain shouldn't breed!!!

This was sheer stupidity on behalf of the guy and his girlfriend. Think they should both be charged.

Some people should not be allowed to have babies if this is how they treat them. We all know that you should never leave a child and a dog alone, even more so such a young baby.

So once again a dog gets the blame for human stupidity.

What was the baby's mother doing allowing a 4-month old baby to spend the night with daddy & new girlfriend?
