Almost every person I talk to initially goes "oh you have a Pom? They bark a lot... little ankle biters."
This type of false statement needs to stop! haha!
My Pomeranian has never barked once in her life and is no where near an ankle biter! Hopefully all Pomeranian owners can prove that these statements are not true and Poms are wonderful to own!
Many people shy away from owning a Pom for these very reasons. Just like children, the parents are the primary reason for most actions. Any toy dogs needs to be socialized to the max!
So to all of you Pom owners out there... go out and prove what great little babies these are! Gain as much knowledge as you can to being a great Pom owner! Don't let the bad Poms give us the bad rep!
What's your opinion on the Pom?____

:wave2:Well i like poms. Personally i think any dog can be like that. Gideon is defiantely not little, but he sure is an ankle bitter, but that is what he is breed for. Trust me lots of dogs bark, not matter the breed, or the size!:D

I do belive that it is the owners and no the dog that is at fault.
But my only experience with a Pom is a bad one, my neighbor has one, it barks all the time, pees in the house and attacks my dogs so I can see where they get a bad rep from

They're not my dog of choice for many reasons, including the tendency to bark, long hair and small size. How long have you been involved with poms?

I have a shih tzu thats doesn't act like a typical small dog but I have to defend her also and defend the breed so I understand your defencivness, but when you think about it don't most breeds have a bad rep in soome way, many think Labs are hyper and glutonous, some think all shepherds bite and then of course theres the bully breeds that need more defending than Poms,Labs and Shepherds put together.
The best thing we can do is raise our dogs properly, train them well and set an example

well i find german to be more of a stern no BS language, sounds strict and tough sometimes too, JMO but a POM doesn't look tough or stern lol

Well, there are certain toys that do tend to be on the barky side.
But it's more training than anything. I have a little dog, 18 pounds. I get comments all the time about how she doesn't act like a small dog. This is purely because she follows the same rules and gets the same training that my two 80 pound shepherds get.
