Ok today I was thinking of kong recipes when I geta dog and I thought of one.
Peanut butter, mashed up banana, and kiwi-fruit mushed up.
Ok the questions..
Salt and sugar are bad for dogs and they are in peanut butter?????? and people put it in kongs.
Are bananas good for dogs bad or dont do anything.
Is kiwi-fruit bad for dogs and does anyone think a dog would eat it???

I use Smuckers Organic Peanut Butter
Ingredients
ORGANIC ROASTED PEANUTS, CONTAINS 1% OR LESS OF SALT.
My favorite recipe is plain yogurt, banana, peanut butter

I like to get low fat, low salt things when i can find them for the dogs. I like to make peanut butter sandwiches in Kongs and freeze them. Really, really soft white bread. Squish it in. A little peanut butter. More white bread, etc. Then, I'll add a little water to the whole mixture (just a tad) and freeze it. Great for dogs who already understand what a Kong is and how to get stuff out of a Kong.

My recipe is heavy on the yogurt/banana and very light on the peanut butter. The "goo" mixed together is a very pale tan color when mixed. I just "eyeball it" so I don't have an exact mix.
If you want to use peanut butter, look for a natural brand. Even if you don't have the brand I mentioned, I'm sure you'll find something similar.
Too much suger should be avoided. Avoid it entirely if you can. Dogs don't need sugar & the risk of diabetes & weight gain is high with dogs fed sugar on a regular basis.

I just put a little bit of plain yogourt in Colbi's. Although it does become quite messy as it comes out of the small hole at the top...
Sometimes I just stick one of her treats in it. ;)

What I stuff in mine when I do is cheese or peanut butter low fat. Freeze over night or it will just run right out of the Kong. It gives them an hour to clean it out fairly well. Dogs love cheese, but anything you put in must be frozen so it stays.:D

Another good Kong tip. Put a small dab of peanut butter in the smallest hole at the top (peak) of the Kong. Completely fill that little hole. Freeze this. Then, put room temp to refriderated liquid into the Kong and freeze that. I've used chicken stock, left over soup, etc to fill Kongs this way. This gives them something wonderful and cool to work on in summer months, although it's good for indoor dogs in the winter, too.
I also like to put in the frozen Bil Jac (after it has thawed, and refreeze it.
Another tip is to have several Kongs in the freezer ready to go. I think I have about eight Kongs of different sizes for my dogs. Keeping frozen Kongs allows me to have one ready when I need it. Now, doesn't that sound a bit like Martha Stewart for dogs?

You don't even have to freeze the peanut butter. Just fill the small hole with it. Minsc is finishing up a Kong filled with baby carrots and a piece of cheese that was frozen in chicken broth. He worked on that the whole time I was combing him out.:D Great things those Kongs are.

I found when I didn't freeze the peanut butter my Kongs leaked. Could be a difference in the size of the Kongs.

Along with a difference in peanut butter probably.
I tried to plug that hole with the Kong liver stuff but it ran out. Now I know how to get that work anyway.:)

Hi guys:)
Another question are carrots ok to put in a kong if i mashed them up???

The answer is that vegetables aren't digestible unless they're pulverized; however, frozen carrots make great chews for teething puppies. Dogs love to chew on them & I give Ozzy baby carrots as treats. As long as you're not expecting the dog to gain any nutrition from carrots (without pulverizing), carrots are a good low-calorie treat.

Thanks:)
If you have food loving un-fussy dogs like mine you can get away with simply pouring hot water onto dry food until a bit mushy, packing the kongs then freezing. I frequently leave my dogs these instead of feeding their breakfast from a bowl - takes them around an hour to eat and doesn't add any unnecessary sugar to their diet. I have the extreme size black kongs so you can actually stuff quite a bit of food in.
