Most of the time I make a gooey mix of plain yogurt, smashed banana & peanut butter & then freeze it.

Wow, you guys are creative with what you put in your Kongs. Hailey only has gotten chunky PB... I better not let her read this or she'll be all salty about me hold'n out on her.

I'll have to start being more creative:)

Oh I do all sorts of things lol. Peanut butter, cottage cheese, canned pumpkin, yogurt....Alot of gooey stuff like that. Sometimes some ground beef or turkey.

They also like it when I put chicken broth or water in it and then freeze it.

That's a Kong. They're they're rubber toys with a hollowed out inside that you can stuff with basically whatever you'd like. It's a chew toy :)

They come in different sizes and "powers" too. There's puppy kongs, regular kongs, and super tuff kongs for heavy chewers and there's small sizes for little dogs, large sizes for bit dogs.

Why do you put stuff in it if its just a chew toy dont they just shew the outside?
And why do you have to freeze them??? sorry lol i dont no

It's a great toy to keep them occupied & a great way to give them a long lasting treat. Once frozen, it takes them a good long while to get all the goodies out of it.

So far the only thing that I have found that will stop up the hole in the top is peanut butter. I haven't tried cheese yet but the liver spread stuff gushed out.

I just make a thick gooey mess & fill the Kong & put it on its side in the freezer so it won't spill out.

The idea is for it to occupy some time. Hailey will chew on a peanut butter filled Kong for an hour or two. Sometimes if we have guests over who are not particularly “dog people” we give Hailey a PB Kong to keep her busy.

Her teeth seem to be noticeably cleaner after a good session with the Kong.

Kongs are easily washing in your dishwasher too!

Oh I sort if get it they have holes in them and the dog can sqeeze it out and you freeze it so its harder to get it out.Am I right:p lol

kender

kender wont even chew her kong, she just licks licks licks licks :) but it does keep her occupied -- she's not a huge chewer. We use the puppy kong-whiz stuff right now and sometimes the puppy hard biscuit kong treats that we break into little pieces and every time she rolls the kong a piece comes out, she loves that..

Haven't done any freezing with it or pb -- i do the puppy stuff so its easy on her stomach and i know its safe~

One question about the chicken broth. Does your dog finish it up before it melts? I could see a big mess happening because I think kender would be done with it before it was all gone and leave it there to melt on my clean floor =P Otherwise sounds cool :)

i dont have a dish washer so i dont put anything in the inside anymore. it's too hard to get it all washed out :( i wish i could put stuff in the inside, but then again i would also need 2 more and they arent exactly the cheapest durable toy out there ;) lol

I haven't given him one of those yet. I'm saving it for sometime really special when I have to go and leave him in his crate. There's really not much chicken broth in in at all so it shouldn't make too big of a mess. I'll take his mattress out and put a couple of old towel in for him when I give it to him.

Soak them clean?;)

I've actually found them very difficult to clean, even soaking them I struggle to get them clean! Never realised they were dishwasher safe, does that really work?

I've always soaked mine clean & used a bottle brush on the inside. I've never tried to put them in the dishwasher personally. The "goo" I put inside is pretty easy to soak out. I use yogurt, banana & peanut butter.

it's pretty cheap if ordered from dog.com. petsmart has it too, but it's a little more expensive.

Well I better come clean and say that I actually don't use a Kong. I use a marrow bone that they have already gotten all the marrow out of. It keeps them occupied as well as a Kong. I'm just not a big fan of rubber and plastic.

When I get a dog I'm going to use plain youghgurt, mashed banana and penut better.

A couple of questions.

Would plain vanilla youghurt be ok?

and

I thought penut butter was bad ofr dogs??
and is bananas good for dogs bad or doesent hurt them??
