I love apples alot of ways including my grandma's apple dumplings I must post later:
Ingredients
4 granny smith apples, cored and cut into half-inch circles
1 cup of honey
2 oz cinnamon sticks
1 oz allspice
1 half a star anise
4 cups apple cider
2 cups granola
1 oz olive oil
Rub the face of the apples with the olive oil. In a hot sauté pan, sear the apples until golden brown on both sides and set aside. In another small stainless steel pot on high heat, add honey and let it caramelize until it's the color of copper. Stop the cooking process by slowly stirring in your apple cider. When the honey is dissolved, add spices and apples. Cook on medium low heat to allow the liquid to slowly reduce into a thick glaze, about 20 to 30 minutes. When the liquid has reduced by two-thirds, remove apples and set aside. Strain liquid and reduce more, if necessary, to achieve a nice even glaze for apples.
To serve: Place apples in the center of a plate. Spoon some of the apple reduction over it and sprinkle with granolahhmmmmmm GOOD AND GOOD FOR YA!!
