Hey!
Well what you do, is on the upper right corner you see the Private Messages, button yes? Well click that..and on the left of the page there is a Send New Message button.
If you want to send one from a thread.. what you do is click the persons username on their post, then Send Private Message.
Hope I helped!:D

Also I wanted to add..that if you don't have Private Messaging enabled, you have to go to your User CP then go to Options and fix it. :)
Sorry no pm button in right hand corner even asked my hubby if he could see one case it was me !!

Hi,
Hmm..do you see where it says at the very top of the page(the whole page..not the thread ) "Welcome, Newt." ? It should be at the very top and at the right.....hmm..

OK really weird thats where i was looking nothing there though, its ok thanks anyway :D
This is what it should look like at the top right hand corner of your screen, . Well, this is what it says for me:
Welcome, MoJo.
You last visited: Today at 09:40 AM
Private Messages (http://www.dogforum.org/private.php): Unread 0, Total 31.
Oh Newt, maybe when you signed up, you clicked a check box that said to not allow Private Messages from other users? That could be what is causing this.
At the top of the page, on the blue line there will be the words "User CP"
Click there.
Then once that page opens up, look to the left hand column, and click "Edit Options" and then once that opens up, scroll about half-way down, and you will see a section that looks like this:
>
Private Messaging
This forum features a private messaging system (http://www.dogforum.org/private.php), which allows members to send messages to one another privately.
If you do not want to send or receive private messages, you may disable the private messaging system.
[ ] Enable Private Messaging

Make sure the little box has a check mark in it, and you should be set! ;)

I think new members have to post a certain number of times before the pm option is available to them. This stops spammers from signing in and bombarding the posters with pms filled with spam.
I'm not sure how many posts it takes the activate the pm privilege.
Nothing on there either i clicked on "private messaging system on your post Mojo and it came up that it may not be activated or i may not have enough priviledges?????? now im real confused very sorry folks!!
Yep just discovered that thanks all for the help thought i was losing the plot :D
Ahh there ya go. Never thought of that one. haha. Oh well, I am sure that it shouldn't be too many more posts.

I'm not sure how many posts it takes the activate the pm privilege. That's exactly right - both in the "why" and the "because". Honestly, I'm not sure what the requirements are for new members to PM. They had been removed at one point in time due to some glitches those limitations brought into the system, and I'm not sure what they were set at once the glitches were resolved. I'll definitely need to check into it.
