M y 11 1/2 year old golden retriever has some arthritis in his hips and lower spine. I give him Glucosamine/MSM, 500 mg of each med. He gets two in the morning and two at night. I hvae read several times that fish oil and esterC are both good for joints, so he gets one of the EsterC and two of the fish oil every day. I know a couple that put Knox Gelatin in the food and says that works very well also.
My almost 7 year old golden has had knee surgery on both knees for luxating patellas and she gets 1 of the Gluco/MSM caps each day, but also a SynoviG3 chew i get from my vet. It can be bought other places. She also gets 2 fish oil and one Ester C each day.
For the record, I have rheumatoid arthtis, and I also take the very same Gluco/MSM, fish oil and esterC I give my dogs. Use Spring Valley brand bought at Walmart for dogs, hubby and myself.

I use Joint Guard from springtime.com it is pure and natural and Fresh Factors. I do not have any arthritis as my dogs are young, but I give this to prevent it also.

thank all for the advice , I did not know that you could give vitamin C and fish oil to dog, all give it a try, has for aspirin, I thought it was dangerous to give to dog.

I would not give aspirin daily, it is very rough on the liver and kidneys. The other suggestions are excellent.

Rimadyl is not safe and should be used only as a last resort. Here is a good place to being reading about the dangers http://www.pgaa.com/canine/health/rimadylwarning.html
