http://qvc.com/qvc/gif/shim.gifI ordered an Acer lap top Saturday. It has 3 gb space, 180 gb processor. It has a 17.5 monitor, full keyboard including the numbers.?

I just never heard of it till they said it has been around since 1967, way before the other two big names, they just do not advertise as much as they do.

I am so anxious to get it as I hate this Dell, slow processor and just do not like them...period. Just curious what you all use. I have comcast fast cable server, no wires, etc. This lap top is wireless so got the printer wireless also to go with it.

Hope I like it and can be online later than sitting here. I turn my heat back and it is cold!!

What do most of you prefer a desktop or lab top or notebook.? I am always looking at electronics. Curious mind??:)

Maybe a 3 GHz processor and 180 GB of space? The specs you listed don't yet exist. :)

I have both desktops and laptops for home and work both. Each of them has strengths and weaknesses, and I'm glad I have all of the ones that I do. At home, I have three computers folding 24/7 (and for other "heavy" tasks) in my home office and a laptop mainly on the living room table for quick browsing and other light tasks. At work, I'm moving towards just have a laptop, but I need to upgrade my monitors first (laptop will not support dual CRTs, but it will support dual LCDs...just have to wait to get the LCDs in). My work laptop is better than my work desktop anyway, so it'll be good to pass on the work desktop to someone else in the office who needs an upgrade.

I got an Acer laptop in April 2007..I love it. Mine dosnt die after 20 mins....I think Id take it back to the shop if it did. I get about 2 hours sometimes more on the batter life.

Its an Acer Aspire 9301AWSMI -17" screen with Windows Vista...DVD rewriter and camera card too...everything I need.

I also bought a mouse in case I couldnt get away with the touchpad...but I can use it brilliantly now so dont need the mouse.

Thanks people, never invested in a lap top, it is biggest out there they have made, so I went for it. I have two dells, old compaq. My old compaq has alot more go than the two new Dells. One Dells has 1 gb but space is limited.
Other dell I paid more for is slower yet and cost double than the year old one I am using here now. They all have bugs in them.

Acer is to be leading in sells as the original makers. I am excited I am getting it as has a built in camcorder in monitor, the lcd Bright monitor, full keyboard, 4 usb ports, card slot for all the camera cards, DVD burner. I am going to get a six hour battery for some $159.00 extra to have.

My web site does not use that much, but getting that HD digital camcorder I have 4 or 5 movies on it and tons of photos so it is slow because of that. I am sick of sitting here waiting all the time on the DF and others to get around, so just might order an Acer desktop. The way it was demonstrated it is a darn good computer.

I think I am going to like it as I am sick of Dells. Had thought of buying at Gateway at Best Buys when we were down there Sat, but bought a bunch of CD's and DVD's and a movie.

Biggest Gateway has a 24 inch screen, 4 gb 280 space quad dull, I may just get it, not many made they are so new. Mine on Acer is dull processor. I sure will let you know if I like it Tom C. as I am most critical when I get something new and it does not please me, so be ready for a report and get back on here.

Excellent :D

I've heard iffy things about Gateways, so i'd be weary of them. Also with regards to monitors, I'd look at your options carefully, the quality is very suspect in my opinion on lots of bundled monitors.

I have a Acer laptop that I got at some sale or another for a whopping $300 several years ago. It of course has a small processor and all, thus the cheap price. But personally, it is a little workhorse, never gives me a hair bit of trouble and I abuse that poor little baby because it is kind of the portable computer, dvd player, cd player, I run it off the car battery is I lose power, what ever. It gets borrowed by friends on trips, ends up in every inch of my house, serves as a cat sleeping spot and never fails to start right up and do it's thing. In short, I can't complain about mine.

oh yea, and if you check out computer ratings, you will find that Acer, although not well known, is one of the top rated computers, I also never heard of it before I bought this one, I thought it was an off brand and I only bought it because it was so cheap. I have a feeling you'll be very happy with yours, it's so much bigger than mine, if I had the money, I would go with a new acer laptop as my main computer.

Ive got an acer laptop sos my hubby and we use them for all sorts ,the after sales service is great ,my screen went wonky we sent it back free of charge and recieved it back 3 days later fixed and i think it was my fault .I think Acer originally made computers for companies rather than the general public, would def recommend them our Dell desktop is now a sad piece of junk sitting in the computer room!!!! :D

My computer friend says stay away from Dells. They used to be good - but no longer.

I have a new Toshiba. I was told by those in the industry that Sony, Toshiba and IBM's new Think Pad (renamed, but I can't come up with the name..Lavoia or something) were good for me. However, i use mine as a business machine more than a personal machine. When looking, I like Sony best, but it was more pricey. Great screen.

Acers were never mentioned. However, I avoided the Acer because of the old Acer desktops. Acer was a big name in computers over a decade ago, but their stuff wasn't good. They went out of business, but have evidentialy revised themselves. And, according the the raves here, have a better product this time around. I'm glad, and it's kinda nice to see an old name back on the market.

No Missy I told you they put in used parts to send to us. I know a guy that works for them.

No good Dells, this ACER is number one in respect, for help from U>S only ever get one u cannot understand to talk to? Really hard, I am excited to get mine as it should be fast, I get a cord to put from computer to lap top and all my files will transfer...freee add on. It is Windows Vista or new one and a soft ware to guide me though it at first plus other soft ware like paint shop etc.

I feel I got a great buy on a large LCD Bright monitor of deep color, full keyboard with numbers, 4 usb ports, one card reader of all cards from cameras. Many extras.:)

I have two Dell destops I will send u one. they stink.

I've had my Acer since October last year, I'm getting on well with it. I replace my old Dell with the Acer and have found it much better than the Dell.
