Chat Report Button

Hey!

I have an interesting idea for FlashChat...Not sure if you guys can do it or not, because FlashChat is its own separate file thingey...right? Lol!

Anyways, what about a report button on Chat that makes a screenshot of the chat page...? ORRRR It could report the whole conversation...but not too sure about that...maybe just stick with the screen shot of the current page? And it works like a report button..just on Chat....Haha.
Sound good? I just thought it would be good..and quite useful.

I think the idea is good, but not sure how it will be with the technical stuff..like not sure how it will affect the Chat.

But dont forget we can take screen shots!

just press print screen sys rq next to scroll then press paste! and email it to a mod!

But if we click report if the whole conversation went to a mod that would be cool!

Are you having problems in chat? if someone is harassing you guys, you need to get out of there and let the mods know immediately.

Just select the chat conversation, and copy and paste it in to a word file. And save it until there is a Mod online so that you can report it. Never let someone get away with harassing you, whether they are older or younger than you.

Oh don't worry..I have contacted them. :)
But like, in the future..if it does happen to people, it seems like it would be easier to do this...then go through the whole screenshot process like normal. Lol I'm just lazy I guess:-p
Also the reason I don't copy and paste words is because somebody could always change it around...make it say what ever they want the wrods to say. :(

One of the tech gurus will need to chime in on this. Since chat is an add on to the forum, I'm not sure what options, if any, are available for a reporting tool. Automated tools are definitely nice, though screen shots will need to suffice for the time being.

I dont see why we should go through the trouble of adding this!

When we can do it ourselves take a screenshot and email it to a mod! Its the old fashioned way but why bother!

In reality its the same just making it easier, I dont feel theres a need for this!

Why have a report button on posts then?..Because we can always take a screen shot and PM it.

It has to do with the software. If you hit the 'report' button on a post, it quotes the single post. Chat uses "flash" totally different program so to my knowledge there is no simple way to quote anything. A 'report' button wouldn't be able to tell what you are reporting out of all the stuff that people had typed.

Yes,

but when you think about it the actual forum is public! for everyone to read. Say if I posted somthing the next day you could read it with chat its different you have to be there when its wrote! So if somone says somthing bad there its not as bad as in public! In public everyone reads it, in chat only the people there. So in chat it will be gone the next day and wont affect anyone. Do you understand what I mean! :confused:

I do I do. But chat is still a part of this website, and when somebody is breaking the rules then it can be reported. Because it is still a part of dogforum.org.
But like Skunky said, it wouldn't work.
BUT I think it would be a good idea if it would work.

The rules on the forum are for the forum! Some of them dont apply for chat, such as going off topic!

Chat is a mysterious free land!!! LOL :p if an argument starts on there its got nothing to do with the mods! Because its not public its just between the people on there!!! And arguments happen thats that! Whats a mod going to do whats said is said they cant deleted thats why I find it pointless!!!!!! If it is somthing such as a troll or stalked thats ok but there rarly happens and if it happen people will just screenshot! So it would only be used rarly!

But anyway not point argueing over somthing not going to happen :) Maybe we could use this thread for anymore chat suggestions?! such as somthing like an ignore button! but different!

True, things like going off topic don't really apply, but swearing, harrassment, and other such things are no more acceptable in the chat than they are in the open forum.

Who exactly said it's not going to happen? The official response to the suggestion is "we'll have to see if that can be implemented since chat is a plug in". One of the tech admins will need to address the feasibility of the suggestion.
