Hi I need some advice on how to stop my 15 week old collie cross terrier from knocking my children down and nipping them. He is doing it in a playful way but my younger children r finding it difficult to stop him my 4 year old will just sit and cry and let him do it we have told her to just walk away but he will follow and bite her clothes.

Hi Patches and http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q108/2dogmom_album/crittergraphics/welcomepawprints.gif
Puppies have their own idea of playing, that's for sure, but they can be a little rough on kids. It sounds like you've told your four-year-old the right thing, but then again it's hard for four year-olds to take good advice sometimes. :) Perhaps your child might find it easier to curl up in a little ball, be absolutely quiet, and cover her face than to walk away. Some puppies will stop if the "ignore" method is used, but some need slightly stronger measures like a small squirt with water.
Good luck hopefully you will get some more suggestions!

For the nipping/biting- immediately stop what you are doing with him, give a disgusted look and turn away for a few seconds- then return and start over at whatever you were doing. The jumping, I have heard of different ways- from keeping them on a leash and holding the dog in sit position (has to know sit command) and not giving attention until he is in the sit command and not going nuts with jumping to kind of putting your knee up to block the jump and saying NO. With more research, you should be able to find something that works- just have to work at it every day.
