Anybody know more about this? Or even have it done? I used to have problems when hubby did most of the cooking and went heavy on the meat. It made me feel like I was tried all the time and I was having trouble keeping the weight off. All my life I had had this idea that you should eat what your body was programmed to eat and not go by some "one-size-fits-all" dietary recommendation. I used to get a LOT of grief from the schoolteachers because I wouldn't "drink my milk." Heck most people in my family are lactose intolerant and so was I. Also I'm mildly allergic to apples and some other foods that are common in northern Europe and the US.
A nutritionist turned me on to the "Metabolic Typing Diet" so I bought the book. That only got me so far since if you want to get serious about it, you have to find a specialist - no chance of that up here in the woods.
So anyway, here is a little more info.

There used to be an online test but now the only one I can find they charge for. Anyone ever hear of it?

I personally eat whatever I like be it fattening or not!! I do not like milk, only for cooking. I cannot down a glass of milk, makes me ill. I can drink some chocomilk, maybe that is why I am having calicum problems, never made enough as when I did have any it made kidney stones.?
I eat alot of meat or did. I do not care for pork alot of it. I am not a fish eater, but I love my baked goods, home made bread. I never had a weight problem because of being so active riding horses, running after 3 kids and just being out doing something. Mid forties I joined in Karate classes to get fit.
Then Arthritis set in from punching and kicking. I had to quit, so now just doing what I love with dogs and eating what I want. I maintain but ten pounds over all the time and high colesteral also. Because I cannot walk for my ankel.
My daughters are walking nuts, getting up at 4 in morning for a brisk walk carrying hand weights. Not me!! I used to read tons of book, do puzzles, crochet, knit, sew and painting by numbers did some gorgeous paintings on walls of family and here. Now, eyes do not permit close things as well, I just plant, do lawn, rock garden and run after puppies and my dogs I love. I do not worry about much now, why bother letting a mind go to waste?/:)

I haven't tried it, but I know people who have. The one thing you need to be careful of with this diet (and similar ones, like blood type diet) is to make sure you're taking multi-vitamins, calcium pills, etc, what ever you need as a dietary supplement, as the diet may cut natural food sources of those out.
Also, always allow yourself a little wiggle room. Accept from the beginning that you may not be able to follow the diet 100%. Research proves over and over again that people who don't accept their "cheating" do worse on any diet because they tend to binge. They also end up with guilt issues or other emotional side effects that can hinder weight loss.
If you do not feel good / healthy on the diet, stop it immediately.

When I saw the title, metabolic typing diet I thought someone had come up with a marvelous new way to burn more calories while sitting at a keyboard all day.:D
The amount of carbs the average person consumes in a day would put me flat on the floor for hours.
.
I'm not a big meat eater and if I eat meat it's mostly chicken. When I was younger beef was the mainstay for family meals; lots of inexpensive ground beef. I haven't bought any ground beef in years. ;)
My eating goes by spells. Sometimes I'll crave nothing but soup for a week or two, then it will be salads, cottage cheese and fruit, yogurt, Chinese food etc, then a brief spurt where I'll crave a really heavy meal with meat potatoes and gravy. Overall my eating habits are probably pretty well balanced--just not all in the same day.:)
Most of the time I eat in restaurants ordering off of the senior menus. Those meals are pretty well balanced and generally low carb, low fat. It saves me a ton of money on buying food and on leftovers I'd wind up throwing out if I cooked at home.
Cooking for one isn't cheap and the amount of food wasted is downright sinful.

I've never heard of that kind of diet.....that's interesting.
I ought to take the test and find out what my metabolic type is just for the heck of it. I stay naturally thin by eating what I want, as much as I want, when I want to eat it.....But I also have a strong tendency to eat mostly carbs, I wonder if that's what the results of the test would tell me I should be eating. I'm 5'7" and weigh 112 pounds, if anything, I have to worry about LOSING weight. If I forget to eat and don't eat enough for 2 days in a row, I lose weight extremely quickly.
