Why can't the default be set to 'Do not subscibe' ?
Be a lot less hassle than having to un check it each time.

You can set that yourself in your user CP.
Go to "edit options" and then where you see
"Default Thread Subscription Mode" select "Do not Subscribe." Once you've done that, you will be automatically NOT subscribed unless you choose to subscribe.
