I can see why the people thought it was a pitbull but DNA free'd him. Poor puppy though 8 months in a kennel. :(
This really shows that BSL needs to be thought of 2-3 times..

Monkey that is a real interesting link. I would like to think that it will make people realize how idiotic BSL is but then again it's hard to underestimate how stupid people can be. It also goes to show that Animal Control officers don't have any special ability to recognize breeds by "eyeballing" them.
Poor dog! Can you imagine he had to spend 8 months in a kennel over this stupidity?!?

I wonder why it took 8 months. The owner could have sent in a DNA sample at his own expense and it would have been over in days, not months!
There's no rhyme or reason to holding any dog for that length of time! That's government for ya!
It seems like once they get hold of these dogs, all communication comes to an abrupt halt. One big class action lawsuit might put an end to the nonsense of seizing pets based on appearance only!

I agree all it would of taken was his DNA number and the animal control could of swabbed him and checked with registry and match the numbers??? DAAA dumb dumb.???

I agree its stupid and upsetting and I mean, the emotional stress that poor dog must have been through. Im glad the family decided to keep him after that though. Things like this just makes me muy triste.

Poor dog, I'm glad he was freed.
I read this.
"He lost some fur and has quite a bit of a cough," Johnson said. "He lost about 10-15 pounds."
Thats just a shame. There was a case where real Pit Bulls were taken because of a ban and the owner was going to court, but his pups died of kennel cough, they got sick after being taken into custody. They also starved his dogs for about 2 weeks so that they'd meet the bans requirements. The bans requirements was going by the breed standards of weight at 65lbs, his dogs were large 80-90lbs dogs so they starved them down so they'd have legal grounds to have them PTS. He filed suit.
