I am new to this forum, but not a newbie to forums in general.
Anyway my name is Lisa,I am 23 and live in Newfoundland with my 3 yr old daughter and my animal family.I do not own a dog right now,but have been fostering beagles and greyhounds for local rescue organizations for awhile now.I have loved dogs my whole life!
I currently have two fosters in my care, both beagles.Bambi is a 5 yr old and Hogan is a 8 yr old.
Anyway I look forward to my stay here.If you wanna know anything, just ask!

Hi Juggalette and http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q108/2dogmom_album/crittergraphics/welcomepawprints.gif
How wonderful of you to foster. Sounds like you picked two breeds that like to take off when they are outdoors. :)

Hi and welcome to the forum i hope you like it here. I no some one with a 2 year old beagle he is unable to let him off the lead at the park as he get very distracted by other dogs i have heard this is in other beagles do you find this or are you able to recall. Sorry to be asking a question as soon as you join, but i see this little dog most days and its so sad seeing him on the lead and all the other dogs off running free.

Thanks for the welcomes!!

Hahahaha...yeah,but I love both breeds.Greyhounds are my #1 favorite!! Actually the greyhounds are never (or rarely) a problem on leash. The beagles are more of a problem when out on walks then the greyhounds.
Out of the two fosters I have now,Bambi is a decent walker...but Hogan is a really bad walker on leash! He pulls and is super strong (he is a larger dog) and I can barely control him on leash. Were working on it tho.

Yeah, beagles are scent hounds and once they get on the trail of something, then they will keep on going for as long as it takes! :)
I never let my foster beagles off in an open area and I only would let them off in a really good enclosed area, where I know they cannot get out, until I am ready.

Hello 709Juggalette I believe you are also on Cat Forum ^_^. I've been lurking around here for awhile and just finally decided to join. It's a great forum, almost like CF except its for dogs. :D
from Newfoundland eh? There where me and my family moved from and most of my family still lives back there and the ones who don't say no one will stop them from going back when they retire. ^_^ What part?

I was born in St. John's and though we lived there until I was 8 I spent every weekend and all school holidays with my grandparents who were up in Grandfalls, and Cottrel's Cove. My parents recently just bought a house back there in Botwood where my mother grew up as they plan to retire in 10 years ^_^ lol can you tell they are counting down the days?
