Ok... I need to shower now and this is driving me insane..

We have this a bit older house and the bath tub is apperently conencted to the toilet. Cause now paper comes up in the tub.. so I'd say that the pipeline is prolly clogged where they connect and are supose to run to the bigger line.

I have no clue exactly how the pipes look like due to us not having th eblue prints.. Right now I have put down a whole tank of draino and Ive plunged, plunged, plungedl... I hope this will help, we try to get awayw ith NOT calling the plumber.

Do any of you have any ideas or tips? Ive been digging with a wire coathanger in the tub but I dont find nothing with it when digging around.

I am running out of ideas... do you guys have any????

Pour a box of baking soda down the open drain (take the bit that strains hair out) - then pour in vinegar. If there's a clog that should break it loose. You may also need to do both toilet and shower at same time. Turn of water to tank, drain water from bowel (flush) pour baking soda down both and then add vinegar.

oh lord...

pipe is broken... 5000 grand...
Right when we were almost done with the dog payments..

and yesterday Rich's car got towed and they refused to release it until he paid his parking tickets so we lost another 1000 there.

This is just fine and dandy..
YAY......

Monkey - where do you live that it's costing $5,000 to redo the pipes in your home? Just no way it would cost that. My cousin is a plumber and he can do a new set of pipes for $1,700 tops...did you get a second price on that?

I was gonna ask how Rich managed to rack up $1000 in unpaid parking tickets.

can u send ur cousin over!!!!!!

We havent got a second opinion yet, my thought was if he broke it while being there due to be able to get to change it. I could smell him stinking beer so I have my suspicions to be honest.
we live in NY, Long island..

and skunky, 200 was for towing, the other was for the tickets.. So far back as from 2000...

just keep fingers crossed..

Wish I could send him over, that price you got seems suspicious to me too, especially if you could smell the beer. I would get up to 3-4 opinions before handing over that kind of money. Is NY THAT expensive? Maybe your hubby could get a friend who knows something about plumbing and they could do it themselves? I was wondering if maybe your vents to the toilet might just be clogged...
Fingers crossed for you here.

We recently had all the plumbing up dated in our house, $10k usd . We got 3 quotes and they were all within a couple hundred of each other. Plumbing is NOT a job I would want. Under our house is nasty lots of really big spiders and one of our drain lines had been leaking so it was really mucky under there. We just decided to get it done because if we did it ourselves it would have taken months.
I'd rather spend that time with my family and dog.

Aussie there are some great all natural products you can spray all around your basement floor by the baseboards that will keep spiders away. Non toxic to pets. I hate spiders and have always used it, never see spiders. Why don't you put newspapers on the floor to soak up the water from your drain pipe or shove the end of it into the drain hole in the floor?

Well 1. My husband has NO husband skill at all.. I am the one plunging, fixing blockage, general maintainance, fixing tile, boards, floor etc.. and no he has no such friends(I wish). 2. We will however get a second opinion, he is away right now so I do not know what he is doing. 3. It was a blockage, the blockage is gone for the moment, but if the man is right about the pipe being broken, then it means that a lot is flowing out in under the grass right now, which is less good also, hence why we need a second opinion. But no I have not seen the broken pipe, that's what got me suspicious together with the beer breath.

His mom that owns the house will put out the money however, she is sweet enough to do that...

your bath waste is teed into your wc waste ,if the wc waste becomes blocked the waste has to go somewhere ie,up your bath waste pipe.
although depending on a broken pipe causing this,it could be slim!
usually it takes a camera to detect this.
if not a broken pipe ,a jetter is required, this will not cost thousands.

dang, u know ur stuff..

we are having a more well known liked plumbing company here.
They are doing that camera thingie now, it looks like it has to be changed though but he was laughing about the price so 5000 is not THAT bad. However, it was totally filled with roots.

Ill give a further update when I know more :)

Wow...we had that same problem at our cottage, but our pipes were outside and no one pulled the shoots out as they grew. Still only cost us $900.00 to have my cousin go in and chomp the roots out with some kinf of electric thingie...a company asked $1,800 so my cousin did it for us and only charged for some of the new parts. How would you get roots in your pipes, aren't they in the basement??

i can only guess as the roots grow they penetrate the pipes.
never come across this.
