You are braver than I am! I am just getting to know dog behavior and wouldn't have the courage to get a puppy. I see so many irresponsible owners and I would hate to mess up a puppy's life by not training appropriately.
A dog's love is so precious. Their love is so uncondiional. I wouldn't want to be a part of not being good to that dog.
Of course we adopted an exceptionally smart dog! So learning how to take care of her is SUCH a pleasure.

Thank you - he is a rescue puppy, not from a breeder. His mum was dumped when she was pregnant  We suspect he's not full Basset anyway.

I hope we will be the best 'owners' he will have. We are trying very hard and he is doing very well with his housetraining. He starts his puppy classes in a week as well.
And i dont think we will be 'messing' his life up

Hi and welcome from me and my Gang and good luck with your new puppy. It doesn't matter whether he came from a recure or a breeder he should srill be given the same amount of love and training, and it sounds like you are headed in the right direction.

Congrats on entering the wonderful world of dogs! Everyone has to start somewhere and it's a great thing that you are enrolling your pup in puppy classes. Stick with it and you will learn a lot! Obedience classes are a great way to learn and a great way to meet other people and socialize your dog at a young age too. Enjoy and welcome!
