I used to make a big deal dying eggs, making nice wooden weaved Easter baskets, have a couple I kept yet, for the kids. I wrapped them and hid them, they had to find each basket. We dyed eggs, made a plate of chocolates on table also.

I always had a nice ham, side dishes of macroni salad or mac n cheese baked, baked beans, pies too. I always made special things for the kids when home and enjoyed doing it.

Now, I buy candy for me or make fudge and eat it. Hmmmm good!
I will do a glazed ham, not sure what dishes yet. I am just curious how many make a big meal, what all some do for this Holiday. Let us know your story please....Mine is short as all are gone, even grandchildren....:)

I've never made a big deal of Easter except for buying Easter eggs for the kids. I never eat meat on Good Friday, still, even though my hubby & boys don't think it important.
Sydney has the Royal Easter Show, an agricultural show like your State Fairs. I belong to the RAS which gives me free entry & access to the members stand. I go at least 4-5 times each year. Always on the day the Border Collies are judged & the agility days. I love watching the agility.

My family has always done the big Easter celebration also, with the dyed eggs, filled and hidden Easter baskets and family dinner in sort of spring version of Thanksgiving. It's nice that the traditions haven't died out. As my sister's kids have young families now there are just more participants and more generations which is really nice.

It's been a kid things with us, kind of like with Christmas.
When I was little, my mother would hide eggs and candy all over the house. My husband used to hide an Easter basket for his daughters.
For a while I was dying eggs and using them as table deocrations but now with all the kids grown and out of the house we relaly don't do much for Easter. I might make hot cross buns, but that's about it!

Me also Skunky. I used to still make a plate or basket full of candy for who stops and dye eggs myself. It is kinda silly now for me to waste that now.?:)

When my nephew and nieces were little, Easter was a ton of fun because of Easter egg hunt, new spring outfits, that sort of thing. It has gotten lower-key now that they are older. Dinner is always ham and sweet potatoes - but being Polish we always have fresh sausage from the butcher, and being Bohemian a "beranek"- pound cake baked in a mold shaped like a lamb. And beets... gotta eat beets on Easter but I'm not sure why. I wish Easter Monday were observed in the U.S.

It's all about the kids! We still do the traditional things. Color eggs the night before with the kids, make Easter baskets after they go to bed, hide eggs etc. Then comes the traditional huge ham dinner with all the trimmings including German Potato salad.

When I was younger we dyed eggs, and got little plastic eggs with candies and money and my parents hid them all over the house and we would go find them. We would also get easter baskets but mostly we would go to Disney World or on vacation for Easter. This year we are going to a country club in NY for a celebration with my Godfather.

Oh Gosh one Easter my younger daughter bought the older daughter twins and 2 other girls, she had total of five kids. Got her a long eared bunny, forget what they called them. We always gave gifts to grandchildren till they are now grown up in twenties now.

I may dye myself some eggs for the table and put candy around the bowel. I have to diet eating so much fudge and sweets. I have been working on my ellipitical machine till I can barely walk for my lower back. That is one mean machine going backwards.

I loved dying eggs and painting names on them. I would love to try making fruit n nut eggs, coconut ones, peanut butter ones, etc. I love to cook, bake and enjoy all my new pots n pans and assessories. I am a Wolf Gang Nut in the kitchen with his stuff. Love jelly beans also.!!!:)

Just picked up our spiral ham, will glaze it again, it was smoked, glazed and I cook mine in ginger ale and orange juice, then glaze and glaze. May just make macroni salad, I love celery cut tiny in mine with onion, petter of colors, eggs. I hard boiled pickled eggs today, will of course make those again.
