Advice please - what to do with puppy with long trip coming up

Hi there, im new here and have a 2 1/2 year old dachsound/cairn cross called Emma and an 11 week old yellow lab called Sonny.

Im going away in september to scotland, and am taking Emma ( as I always do) with me and my two friends.
I planned to take Sonny too but not sure if thats such a good idea now, he's not yet properley toilet trained and as we are renting a holiday property im a bit worried about him soiling inside the house, saying that hes great when we are downstairs, almost always goes out to the toilet and this lodge is single storey.
Its going to be a very long journey, around 13-14 hours, Emma's very good in the car but obviously he is much younger and not so used to it.
We would stop regulary, so they can stretch their legs and go to the toilet etc.
The lodge is on the banks of a loch so im also worried about that, Emma can be trusted to come when I call her but he's still learning;)

What are my options?
My mum said she would have him, but she's not that experienced and im worreid about leaving him with her.
Boarding kennels seem a little harsh for such a littlie:(
and im not sure if they would accept such a young puppy?
What do you think I shoud do? i'd really like to take him, but just not sure if im asking too much.
Any advice would be great.

Hi and welcome to the Forum from me and my Gang in Scotland. Could you not take the puppy with you on holiday and take a cage that may solve your problem at least that way during the night if he has a little accident it would be in the cage, might mean a bit of re-training when you get back home but it could solve your holiday problem and also it would prevent him from chewing on anything in the rented lodge. Whatever you decide hope you enjoy your holiday.

ya i think a good sized crate will be good if you decide to take him, if your mom doesnt know how to deal with the pup then dont go with that unless you really trust her, its always a good learning experience for either of you but i think if you decide to take the pup then a crate would be a great idea, and yes a little bit of re-training would be important but you could always bring "potty-pads" for the time-being in the crate so you dont have to clean up much, just get one for enough size for the pup to sleep and small section for the potty pad to go into for him to use.

I echo the other responses. If you decide not to you can kennel your pup, I don't like doing that myself but some people have no choice and the dog does well.

Thank you all for your advice!
I already have a puppy crate, not that Sonny uses it much!
It very large and when folded flat still wont lie down in the car, i dont think i will have enough room for it and 2 dogs, 3 people (including me) and 3 peoples luggage!
Im still mulling my options over, i live with my mum, and she does have the dogs when im at work, but im so paraniod about leaving him with her, she gets very worried and nervous about the dogs.
i suppose thats a better way to be then too laid back!
Ill keep you posted.
