If you are serious about getting a doberman, I would look up registered breeders and ask if you can go and view their dogs. The Kennel Club is a good place to find this info. It is very important to research everything about the line of your new dog, as temperament, conformation and longevity are all determined by how responsible the breeder is.

Breeds such as Dobermans are often sold by BYBs and this has meant that there are a lot of dogs being bred from that shouldn't be for some reason (unsound temperament/ health problems etc) and if you are not careful you could end up with an unhealthy or unsound dog.

A good breeder who cares about their breed will be more than happy to let you visit and have a chat - they will be just as interested in checking you out as you will be in them.
A good place to meet breeders and compare lines is at a breed show in Ireland, it's useful because you can compare the different lines and see which ones you like.

A good puppy is worth the wait, the best breeders often have waiting lists and will not breed constantly - they breed for quality not quantity. I believe Sheplovr is one of these breeders so she'll testify to that!

if you are in the Uk you could also visit a few local Dog Shows and speak to the owners/breeders there.

I personally would be very wary of buying any dog from a website, I prefer thrpersonal approach .
