I really hate to be a grinch, because I see how some members are having such a good time choosing fancy fonts for their posts, but sometimes I have a hard time reading them! Ok my eyes were never that good, but some of the fonts have really thick letters and the words look like blobs. I do not want to take away anyone's fun, but maybe if the admin could keep those of us in mind who don't have huge monitors and who are stuck with a high resolution anyway (to be able to display msot of the web pages that are out there) and ditch some of the wackier fonts?

i try to make them bigger and bolder....srry...=)

Hi Skunkstripe – what is your preffered font? When I work with visually impaired clients I use Tahoma at least font 14 – but you just name the font.
Also we are advised to have a pale pink background as this avoids too much whitespace which makes concentration difficult. You name it and I’ll post in that font in future.

(sorry I posted twice, I thought the font had changed to tahoma but it hadn't - I'm technology challenged - lol

OK now that I can see it, I can tell that I have a hard time reading the Arial Black and the Impact especially if they are bolded. The Gramond is unreadable (to me) at this font size. Like I said, ireally do not want to spoil anyone's fun-I think it is just if somebody uses one of those fonts with the fat letters and then maybe they are bolding it my eyes hurt trying to read it.

You know, I don't think anyone in here would mind at all using a different font at a bigger size. I guess its just making them aware. Its not good if you are not fully included in everything and by just making a small adjustment with the font will give you equal participation. I know its an Admin issue so maybe you could ask Doberman if its possible to put a general request up.

In the meantime I'll use a larger, clearer font.
Hope this will help

How about we just stick to the default - size 2 black Verdana for the majority of posts with variations of size/color/font for emphasis sparingly. Would that be amenable both to those who have a bit harder of a time reading posts as well as those who like to spice things up on occasion? If we need to fiddle with things, let's work out a good solution now. :)
I know those bigger fonts really bug my eyes out, especially on my laptop (1024x768 resolution max  ).

Unless anyone objects I'll stick with this font so that anyone can read it. Is that OK? That way it makes it accessible to everyone -

Jake that looks fine to me. I did not mean to make a big deal out of it, the default font is ok too. It is just when posts use the facny fonts, maybe bold and some funky color that I have to strain my eyes. I have never had great eyesight and it has not gotten better with age.

Regarding the font size: I would suggest that users continue to post with normal font size and that users that can not read the posts because the font is too small edit their browser text size option. That way each user uses the size they like when viewing this site or any other site.
With FireFox you go to View - Text Size - Select Increase (ctrl++) or Decrease (ctrl+-).
With Internet Explorer if CSS (like in this site) is used you might not be able to resize the text on some parts or all... I suggest you use FireFox (http://www.GetFirefox.com)

Arsenik just for the record I am not saying that I am having any problems with the default font. It is when people try to make their post look like they wrote it using a fat purple magic marker and try to make it look like handwriting that it gets tricky. So changing the fiont size options will not help, it will still look like handwriting with a fat magic marker.

I don't want to take the fun out of the site, but the main point is to convey information, which is difficult when posts are in unreadable fonts/sizes/colors. I have pretty decent vision, and some of the combinations I've seen are just plain hideous.

That way ppl will be limited to the list of font and sizes we make available. This would make moderating easier... (limited choice of font and sizes to select from when posting)

(limited choice of font and sizes to select from when posting) :cheers:I'd rather make a "soft" limitation through the rules; hopefully everyone will respect that once it's posted and make moderating a non-issue. If not, we can always remove the worst of the options. Hopefully it won't come to that because a bit of variability from time to time can definitely be a good thing. :)

Please stick with size 2. Arial is a good font, but size 1 can get awfully small.
