:) Do any of you guys do agility or flyball (or another competitive sport) with your dog(gies)? I am thinking of getting Max (my black lab) involved in either agility or flyball. I wrote to the AKC and they sent me some info. BTW, have any of you trained your dog for the Canine Good Citizen Test? I want do do that with Max too! :)

LOL...mine is too! I prefer "hard to motivate"! Though as both my dogs mature, they seem more eager to retrieve. Agility dogs, they'll never be!

Both of them have passed their CGC though. They're pretty mild mannered, so I think that helped. The reason most of the dogs I've seen fail was for jumping on the administrator.
Good luck! It's a lot of fun!

My dog loves agility.allthough shes not fully trained yet she has such a high energy level and if there is anything on the ground she purposly jumps it.once we were in a double tennis court, and one net was up and one net was down. i threw the ball and she ran around the net, then decided to return over the net! she cleared it beautifully and i suppose it was around 3 ft! i really enjoy agility for my dog becuase she is forced to listen to me if she wants to have a good time, and she has such a powerfull and controlled jump and she tuckes her self up nicely ove the bigger jumps.mydog to me is kindof like my miniature horse.when i take her to the barn, she runs around the arena jumping all the jumps!but agility is still my favourite dog sport!!

I dont do anything in competitions, but I am working on building an agility course for fun and exercise. I just have a hurtle right now, but Zoe is really good at it, and I'm sure she will be good at the dog walks cuz my mom has some boards in her backyard and zoe always walks along them...

I am planning to build weave poles next though and that is what I am worried about how I am going to get her to do that...lol

Coda and I are waiting for our first agility class to start. I am very excited. Coda has done very well in her obedience classes, so now it time for some fun!! :D I am also looking into taking some tracking classes. They seem to be harder to find in my area. Agility and fly ball are a good way to billed the bond between you and your dog. Have fun!:)

Hi,
I hope to start agility classes soon - but my Vet won't let me yet because I was rescued and my 'immune system' is low - i don't mind i'm getting lots of treats, cuddles and TLC.
I can see one problem and that is that i ALWAYS bite the tennis ball and puncture it - how can my Mom get me to stop that?

I've done agility with my last dog, and am training my current dog in flyball. Both are fun, but I'm fortunate that my dog has a high energy level and real drive. I guess the main difference is agility is just you and your dog, whereas flyball is you and your dog working with a team of other dog/handlers. I find that clicker training is the best way to train, but you need to find that motivation for your dog. My red dog is a couch potato, and all he wants to do is steal food, so I'm not sure he'll do much :-)

I do both agility and flyball with Sheena. And we plan to with Luca as well when he is 18months old. Sheena is going to her first ever flyball competition this weekend and I am scared stiff. Then on teh 7th she will be doing her very first agility demo for the public with our clubs demo team. I am also nervous about that as well.
