Hello,
We've recently bought our first family dog and she's a beautiful Fox Wire Terrier called Maizy. I was wondering if there were any other FWT owners out there who could send some pointers or advice on the breed?
Though saying that, with all the books I've read I may be able to help you too!! :)

Am in the process of getting our first wire fox terrier will be collecting it in early september. In the past used to keep boxers for twenty years. I found it hard to locate the dog but have done extensive research about the breed. How have you found Maizy any problems.

Hi there. Maizy is fine and very very funny! When we did research we read that they are very expressive dogs. (She also does a mean impression of Chewbacca!!)
We've been taking her to puppy obedience classes and she's been really easy to train (its just heel work, sit, down and the come command) though its early days at the moment.
It took us about 8-9 months to find a breeder that had FWTs to sell, I think the numbers of breeders is falling.
Good luck with your new pooch, let me know when you pick him/ her up!!

Maizy's training is going ok. She's out grown puppy classes and next Monday she starts at big school. We've started to let her off the lead when we go on "the big field" and we're using a shaker and calling her name to call her back.
She doesn't really chew anything. She digs though, she loves to dig so we've placed pots strategically around the garden to put her off which kind of works!
I still need to load my recent pictures! I'll look forward to seeing yours too :)

Had our puppy three weeks now doing fine last injection on thursday be able to take for walk a week after, looking forward to that. First couple of nighs not too good got up to her about 04;30 to let her go to the toilet and then put her back to bed. Now cassie sleeps till o7:00 and most days dry & clean. She is into nipping at the moment when she gets tired, hopefully she will grow out of this. Been playing with grand children and lacey a chocolate lab but she is a bit rough with cassie at the moment. How is mazie getting on now good i hope. Thats all we have at this time hope to hear from you soon.:drunken:

Great news and great to hear from you!
Maizy was very nippy at first but she's fine now. She still has the odd accident in the night but the rest of her doings are fine. She's even now scratching at the door to get out!
Are you going to go to any "puppy parties"? We did and its been a real help. Maizy's now at an intermediate class and really responding to training. She's also received a good puppy citizen thing from the kennel club!!! Its also been great with socialising. I'm amazed at how many people have dogs that can't stand the sight of any other pooches.
Get some pictures up.... which reminds me, I've still not done mine. :)

My very first dog was a fox terrier. He was a fantastic character. He had a kennel outside but he lived indoors - don't really know why the kennel was there. Anyway I would go into the kennel with him with his dinner and share it with him (fortunately my mother fed him on the same things that we were eating that day).
He was a wonderful dog and he lived to be about 13.
So although I don't have a FT now, I do love the breed! Mine was wire haired!

Yes sorry for delay wife been in hospital so had my hands full. All ok now cassie is doing great just had her oat stripped and does she look different. She is in to everything at the moment but still a pup .Training going well walking on the lead and letting her off the lead in the park. Will be off to the lakes after christmas so she will enjoy that. Never had so many people asking about cassie and the nice comments they make. While she was getting stripped they brought out her sister to see her. Her brother went to a friend of my daughters and we have heard that it fractured its leg but it is ok. Well that is all for now.
