I have a Presa Canario. They are rare and ones that do work are rarer. I'm going to send out the bait and see what comes in.

Randy you can't post something like that and not post pics! :D Surely you have a camera and you know how much people like to ooh and aah over dogs. :)
Edited to add:  it was in your intro post. Sorry! That's what I get for trying to work and post at the same time. :p

This breed was used in 1940's as fighting dogs, very strong boned, jaws and muscled dogs. Used for protection. what are you planning to do as it will take a very precausious type of training to socialize it with other dogs and people, children, etc. I would be so careful my dear, somebody might get hurt. Very nice dogs, but he looks are kinda scarey with all that muscle.

Funny you post that picture. The fawn bitch on the right is my dog's grand dam. Check out my post in New Members, it has a pic. My post under Training has more info on what I'm about. I have three young children that love him and my APBT to pieces.

Kane is the best. He is often used as a prime example of what a personal protection dog should be at my club. I can turn him "on" with a look or a word or he will default correctly without cues. The next second, my trainer will tell me to turn him "off" and he will happily approach any decoy that was "attacking" just moments before and even eat out of their hands when I say that it is okay to do so. My kids can even do this with him. They do not come "out-of-the-box" this way, but with good, consistent training and socialization, they can be remarkable. Kane is not dog-aggressive either. Puppy stimulation and imprinting are a major part of my training. Producing a Presa and Pit bull that are not dog aggressive has been my goal and has worked out well. Kane has been used to socialize many dog-aggressive dogs and has even taken bites from them without retaliation. He would look to me for permission first. Managing a dog this big day-to-day is easy. I live on a ranch, but I can see living in an apartment with him. He does not bark unless told or if someone approaches the front door. He can chill all day or play all day. The Pit bull would rather play all day and all night. I hope to get another Presa once Kane has passed his Breed Suitablility Tests. Here is a picture with his Renascence Bulldog buddy, Greco.

I have to admit comething about a real handsome threatening dog to ward off people I do not want here, lol.
He is stunning and looks pleasant, sorry I just paniced because so many new members come dancing on and going off to buy and no nothing about the breed they desire. Congratues you have a dandy looking boy....:)

Lovely dog, he looks very imposing but has a lovely sweet expression at the same time.
It's lovely to hear of someone using one of these dogs the way they should be used, and not just training them to be mean!

Here is a picture of Randy's dog Kane with my 6 year old cousin. I was watching Kane for a couple days and my cousin got to meet him.

Presa Canario is most suited for protection and when bred and trained right a stable, family dog. Thats JMO
I love the picture of him with the school children, wonderful. He is beautiful.
I chose CC for personal reasons but my SO still likes PC and Dogo Argentino. One of the troubles for me with finding a good reputable breeder with dogs that I liked. There is always the future so all in good time.
What bloodline is you're APBT? Any pics?

I don't know what lines she's from. She was a product of my trainers Pit Bull that was left to board by a man who had papers but has not been heard from since he left the dog. The dam is out of my trainer's nephew's Pit. I was not in the market for one, but after seeing the difference in the temperament and environmental stability of this pup compared to the others in the litter due to puppy stimulation and imprinting protocols, I could not resist. She will do anything all day long. I could re-establish her under the UKC, but papers are not a priority when it comes to working dogs. A good dog is where you find it.
When it comes to Presa Canario breeders, I can only recomment Red Star Kennel. They are very strict in their BST(Breed Suitability Test).

I love that first picture of your Presa. Red Star has a very good reputation indeed.
Interesting I would not have expected her to be of UKC stock. Anyway I was just curious, she is a very cute little dog. Pedigree is a big part of a dog to me, I don't leave it to just finding a good dog with luck. I know to some people it means very little and understand in this case with how she came about. Crazy that someone would leave their dog behind.
