Please, if there is a troll / nutcase on the forum, use the report feature. Sending PMs does not alert the moderating staff. However, a "reported post" will come into our email inboxes.

Please only report ONE post from a troll. As a matter of routine, the moderating team will look into every post anyway. Each reported post results in a ticket that has to be answered. If more than one person reports the SAME post, this does not increase the number of tickets, it just makes an existing ticket longer.

However if one person reports each and every post, that creates a huge administrative burden for the staff. There is no need to alert us to all of a troll's posts. We have the capability to mass delete posts from obvious trolls with a single keystroke, but if we have to answer tickets for every single purpose, this defeats the purpose of that convenience.

I do appreciate the PMs and reports, but if you can help us by reducing the amount of "paperwork" that needs to be done when a troll invades, it leaves that much more time for other tasks. :)

Missed a troll, did I? :) Thanks for the info. I have reported trolls on different threads. I won't do that anymore.

If it's obvious nutcases (like the one we just had) then only one report is needed.
If it's more subtle (like someone actually manages to post something coherent but every so often has a trollish post) then yes, your help in finding the troll posts is very much appreciated.

Missed it! Durn!

It was just random letters repeated, so really unexciting ;)

As long as we're on the subject, responding to trolls does not help. For one thing, feeding them encourages them to stick around. For another, these responses have to be deleted manually one-by one, so please be aware that responding not only feeds the troll, it creates work for the moderating staff.

Then there are always those members who respond, and then when the troll's thread / post is deleted, have their responses deleted as well, and then complain about why they didn't get a personalized message explaining why.

If you reply to a troll, expect the troll's post and your response to disappear. Especially when a troll has been very active and members have piled onto it, this ends up being a big mess to clean up. Sending out PMs to each and every member who replied is asking a bit much.

You can help the community best by "reporting and moving on." :)

I saw it but wasn't sure how to report it - looked around a bit and saw it was being taken care of. I see now to report a post you click on the red triangle thingy under the rep+ bar :)

Now I know.

Cass :)

Eunice you are one of our best members when it comes to keeping the forum clean. I don't think that you could be much more vigilant than you already are. :)

Exactly! :thumb:
There is a link to an older thread on that subject and you can find the link in the last line of the signature in all of the mods. The only thing that has changed is that the email with the link doesn't just go to Taeric and admin, it goes to everyone on the moderating team. That gives the best chance that someone will react quickly.
