Currently, I have a medium-haired dog with fairly easy brushing... I use a slicker for her weird medium fur and it works very well.
But I am getting a Pembroke Welsh Corgi puppy in 2 weeks... it is of the "Fluffy" variety, like the one here:
http://www.pwcca.org/Fluffy.html
And, it of course is a double-coated breed and will probably shed a lot. What kinds of brushes could be used effectively on a dog like this while also helping to get rid of the loose hair?
**Oh, and before anyone says anything, the breeder didn't breed fluffies to get this fluffy. Her Ch. bitch threw two of them in her last litter. >^_~<

Never seen a fluffy corgi! Post pics when she arrives! Corgi puppies are some of the cutest puppies!
Am unsure of what a "slicker" is, but I use a shedding blade on my two. It works pretty well and they love it...come running to me whenever they see me pull it out.

The Kong Zoom Groom is excellent for short-medium haired double coated breeds. It pulls the all the dead undercoat up and out, then, if necessary, you can use the slicker brush to smooth the top and get the strays.

I use shedding blade on my beagle, and it also works well on my boyfriend's huskies. He also has a comb that gets rid of matts but Im not sure exactly what its called.

A brush made for medium hair is not going to work on this boy. He's going to have long, sheltie-like fur when his adult coat grows in.
Oh, and here is a slicker brush.

What else is this type of brush called in other places? Out of curiosity. >^^;<

Hi never seen or heard of a fluffy before but aren't they cute;) . Well with the roughs we use a good quality bristle brush. a comb to get the knots out fron behind the ears. When they are dropping coat we use slicker brushes.

I have a couple pics of Shippo already, from the breeder. She's calling him Gizmo right now but I'm changing that lol...

Those two are when he was around 7.5-8 weeks old.
And this one's just a week from then, and he's looking even fluffier... >O_O<

Also, if anyone's curious, here's the breeder's website and she is also a member of the PWCCA.

Shippo is the offspring of her Irene. I believe the other Fluffy pup is still looking for a home.

I guess for now I'll start with a normal pin/bristle brush and see how that works... Then if it doesn't, I'll try some of the other kinds... >^^;<

i would be more inclined to use just a bristle brush, this wont take the undercoat out.however the breeder will be able to advise you.

Well, he's arrived! I had to bathe him and wash out his crate since he had an accident on his long flight, so I had a chance to try out a couple brushes. Pin brush didn't work well... the slicker worked alright... and the undercoat rake sucks lmfao...
I have posted a picture thread in the appropriate forum. There's only one pic, but after I wake up tomorrow I'll put up more when I get time. >^_^<

Lmao, well aside from him trying to hump Eevee constantly, He's doing fine. There've been no accidents yet. It kinda sucks that he has to bark at Eevee in the mornings when he wants to play because my boyfriend's still trying to sleep lol...
I'm trying to figure out a way to get more sleep myself... I was thinking of crating him down here with the TV going... *tries to think of something* It's been literally years since my last puppy. I feel like I'm gonna pass out... >X.x;<

Wow. Puppy coats suck! His butt keeps matting up from him sitting on it. I'm thinking of investing in one of those mat-stripping rakes... >@.o<
