Good Idea Kelsie :)
I'm Jane, and as well as the dogs I've got 4 cats - Topsy, Turvy, Smedge and Clawed, 3 kids aged 11, 10 and 6, and one hubby.
I've currently got my brothers mad boxer Wilson staying with us for a while too.
I'm a Technical Manager for an Agrochemicals factory, I look after all the chemical products, and also Health, Safety and Quality.
In my spare time I love to run :) I have my first 10KM race next Sunday and I can't wait!!!
I am a lifelong U2 fan but love all sorts of music.
that's about it really - personality wise I would say I'm pretty chilled and laid back. Don't do getting mad, it gives me a headache;)

Okay, I am an old fogey, will be 61 in June, been married to the same guy for 41 years as of mar. 13 (2 weeks ago to be exact.) I was born in Perth, Western Australia. My dad, a Texas farm boy, was stationed in Aust. during WWII and met and married my Mom. At the end of the war, Daddy got out of the Navy, returned home but it was June '46 before Mom and I got to come over.
I am the oldest of 5 with 3 brothers and l sister. I grew up quail, dove, and duck hunting, and fishing....a regular tom-boy. I no longer hunt, but do love salt fishing as we live on the Texas coast.
Have two sons ages 39 and 36 and three grandkids, ages 6,4 and almost 3. Husband is a cross country truck driver, so most of the time it is just me, the 3 golden retrievers and the cat (plus aqaurium of fish) at home.

I had my first birthday the day the ship pulled into Honolulu. When we got to Texas we lived on the farm with Daddy's parents for over a year until Mom and Dad located a house for sale in the village.
Mom being a ctiy girl had a lot of adjusting to get use to. She was scared of the cow and horses, didn't like chicken poop everywhere (the chickens ran loose) and she had never hear owls screech at night, etc.
She was so scared when Daddy would put me on the back of Old Dan, my grandpa's most gentle plow horse, I would grab hold of his mane and he would follow Daddy down into the woods when Daddy went to get some squirrels for supper.
There were 200 people in the little town and our house was on the very outskirt--in fact there was not a house on the other side of the road from where it started on the "main road" until you got several miles past our little farm. We were only a mile from my grandparents farm.
Daddy got me my first gun at age 10, a double barrel .410 shotgun. Got my very onw "FIRST hunting dog", an English Setter I named Beauty, for my 11th birthday. Daddy had his setter, mack and pointer Lucky, But Beauty was mine, all mine.
I came down with rheumatoid arthritis over 20 years ago and can no longer walk to hunt like i did. Also, have it bad enough in my shoulder I quit using a shot gun. HOWEVER, I do love to go out duck hunting with my oldest son. There is just something about getting up before daylight, dressing warm, packing up the decoys and heading out to the duck blind. I help him set out the decoys and I watch for ducks coming from one side of the blind, him from the other. he is trying to talk me into taking it back up and start shooting again, but i am scared it will hurt my shoulder to much.
I am posting a picture of me taken in Dec. l946 when I was just 1 1/2. As the story was always told to me. Daddy had been duck hunting and came home with a lot of ducks and I latched onto this mallard and would not put it down nor give it up. I even had it in my lap while I ate. But once i was put down for my nap, they got it away from me. Daddy actually wanted to try to glue the feathers onto something to try to fool me, but mom told him that would not work.
My favorite toys back then were not normal childhood toys. I ignored dolls, buggies, etc and wanted to play with Daddy's shotgun shells. Back then the shells were actually paper coated and had a little round piece of paper stuck on the end telling the shot size. Daddy liked to use # 7 1/2 shot for quail and dove, and # 2 or 4 shot for ducks. Well, i had a tendency of pulling the stickers off and so poor Dad sometimes ended up with quail load while duck hunting, duck load while quail hunting.
Since i can only post one picture, I am going to do another post about my dad following this one.

I am posting a picture of my Dad and his older brother. This was taken in Sept 1929 when Daddy (the dark haird boy) was going to be 10 (in Dec.) and his older brother, Garwood (the light haried one) had just turned 11.
My grandmother's sister & brother-in-law lived on their farm just down the road from my grandparents. Actually the big \farm had belonged to my grandma and great-aunt's parents and they got it when their parents died and it was halved between the two girls. Anway, Daddy would hide his shotgun or rifle (depending on what he was going to hunt) down in Uncle Millard's barn. He would set off like he was going to school, but cut back thru the woods and get his gun and go hunting. He would give his kill to tenent farmers who really appreciated the meat--couldn't take it home, his folks would know he had cut school. Sneaky boy. BUT he did graduate and went to college, which was interuppted by WWII, but finished later on and got his degree. So I reckon those days out hunting instead of sitting in a stuffy school room didn't hurt him at all.
Oh, when he was in Australia he did do some hunting and I remember him talking about killing a blue kangaroo, whatever that is, in some mountain range on the west side. I really don't rememver the details.
But as you can see, with huinting dad, uncles, grandpa, cousins, it seemd natural for me to hunt, and also for my brothers. My sister took after Mom and never got into hunting or fishing. However, she married a hunter and teir son is a hunter.
Hope all these stories didn't bore you.

What wonderful pictures and stories! And what an outdoorsy, adventurous life you've led! Look forward to hearing more stories!
I am originally from Texas also (Houston...the Marine Corps brought us to CA), and my father is an avid hunter. The first and only time he took me hunting with him was when I was about six. He never took me again because I cried, cradled the dead geese in my arms and shoved bits of my sandwich down their throats.
My dad and brother still enjoy it immensely, and though it's not my cup of tea, I don't disparage those who do it.
I never was the doll and buggy type either though. I was an explorer, often bringing home crawfish, bugs and reptiles.

My name is Kalee. I am 19 and a full time college student, which I hate by the way. I am so sick of school. I am majoring in photography and planning to minor in Spanish. I am hoping to graduate a semester early so I should be graduating in Dec. 07.
I have one dog, a beagle named Zoe. I got her as a pup when I moved here and she is a little more than a year and a half old.
I have a boyfriend, Justin, we first starting going out a little over 4 years ago. We live 200 miles away though, he lives in my home town. He comes to see me almost every weekend though.
I grew up in a small town, and this is my first time living in a city. After college I will mostly likely go back to a small town. I am not very fond of living in the city.
And since everyone is talking about U2....I have to admit I do not like them. I can stand few songs.
Although speaking of music, I mostly listen to rock, classic rock, and classic country. And I love going to concerts. Just went to Trapt, Chevelle and Nickelback recently and in April I am going to Drowning Pool and Staind.

Kalee, where did you grow up? Altho I live outside of Corpus now, i grew up in the little town of Whitehouse just 10 miles south of Tyler in East Texas. I went to Tyler Junior College for a year before getting married.
After getting married we moved to Akron Ohio and that was a nightmare. I was not use to noise all night long, traffic all night (heck, we hardly had any on the country road I grew up on) and people, people everywhere/ Lived there 7 years, then to Austin, Texas for 16 years and been don here on the coast 18 years. This town was pop 4500 when we bought our house 16 years ago, but is up to 9400 now. I rarely go into Corpus as I can shop at K-mart in Portland 5 miles to the west and in Walmart 5 miles to the NE of us in Aransas Pass.

I grew up at the very top of the Texas panhandle. North of Amarillo. I was 20 miles from the OK border. A town of 1100 people, 40 miles to the closest wal-mart. I now go to Texas Tech.
I havent been in the Dallas area or south many times. Until after I graduated HS. My boyfriend's family lives by Houston so I have been there about 3 times now. We go once a year in March to ride motorcycles with his brother. and sometimes we just go to visit.
Last summer we went to Houston and then to SPI for a few days. It was my first time to go to the ocean. It was awesome!! I liked it a lot!

I haven't been in the panhandle since i was a teen. one thing I remember--it was so flat you could see towns like Amarillo 100 miles away at night! My little town only 610 people in it and we had land (small farm), so moving to a city like Arkon Ohio was a SHOCK.
I love the ocean. i don't swim, but love to walk the beach and looks for sand dollars, rare shells, and most of all fossil shark teeth. I have a couple of thousand of them. Each shark has a different shaped tooth and I have my favorite--tiger, mako and sand tiger.
I also love salt water fishing. once i started it, I never wanted to frsh water again.

Well it is really flat. Though we cant see the lights from amarillo.
Moving here wasnt too bad. I had been here a bit cuz my sister lived her 11 years before I moved here, but it is definitely not the kind of place I would want to live forever and raise my kids. I much prefer smaller towns.
That sounds very interesting. I like looking for shells also. I like to swin in the ocean and try to body surf...lol. Although I dont like to go out to far and I am very afraid of sharks.

3 Goldens, awesome posts, not boring at all, i think you mean Red Kangaroo maybe :p?? it's illegal to hunt Roo here with Dogs now:( which i totally disagree with, simply because of tradition lol, it's what the pioneers did when they first arrived here to survive over 200 years ago! and kangaroos (although native) are actually considered a pest lol, so the government doesn't know why they make the decisions that they do, maybe hippie issues or something...i think it's great how you've been so involved with the outdoors throughout your life, it's something i admire, and it's also interesting, because i've personally never hunted birds with a gundog, it's always been Large-ish game, like Boars, kangaroos, goat, and the dogs actually go in and take the animal on, and in most cases in this type of hunt, the animal is dispatched with a knife

Daddy did say blue kangaroo. I do not know if that is a type or the color. I understand some greys are actually a bluish color.
I have seen on TV wildlife shows where mobs of roos can do a lot of damage to the crops out there--come into them at night and feast.
I suppose the boar you are talking about are wild, feral hogs? i know some who hunt there here. Every year at church we have a Wild Game Feast which is a fund raiser for our little church. i always donate a lot of fish, there are a couple of guys who donate deer and one who donates a wild hog. No fat on that sucker at all like farm raised hogs. We also have a naturally wild, kinda furry hog creature called a javalina. They are very dangerous.
Zoe, I am also scared of sharks. As I mentioned, I do love to find fossil shark teeth on the beach. Did you know a shark can lose thousands of teeth in it's life time? Besides the teeth you see, there are rows and rows of teeth laying flat behind them. When a tooth is lose, the one behind it pops up. Is almos like a conveyer belt.
About 99.98% of the teeth i find are black or gray, which makes them fossil. My son, the marine biologist said they turn gray then black from absorbing something on the ocean floor. Every once in a while i find a while one which means it isn't that old.
Sharks do not have bones, just cartledge (?) and they are the only known creatures in the mammal, reptile, fish, and bird world that do not get cancer. I don't know about bugs. Scientist are trying to find a prevention/cure for cancer using sharks.
I do not know if it will work or not, but i scanned a few of the shark teeth i have found--only black ones as white would not show up against the white paper. I am going to try to post the picture.

Those are really kool!! I had heard about the sharks not having cancer. That is very interesting. It would be awesome if they could find a cure using them.

I have been collecting them about 16 years. It took forever to find my first one, but then after that your eye just kinda picks them out. I usually only find them in late spring, summer, and early fall and each year i have to "retrain" my eyes what to look for.
I am also very proud of two fossil sand dollars i have found. Sand dollars are so fragile and these are like stone. And I have also found a couple of small conch shells and I understand that is rare here also. Both times i have found them after a big storm at sea.

Hi everyone. Its great getting to know you all, what fascinating lives we all have :) A bit more info about me, other than in my introductory thread :D I love listening to music, especially Depeche Mode, Green Day, Billy Idol, Evanescence and Blink 182 (yes, a good mix, lol) By the way, I also think that Drowning Pool rock! I also like to read (will give most books a go but I do like fantasy or thrillers) and I love watching spooky or scary films. I can highly recommend Switchblade Romance (High Tension in the US) and Final Destination 3 (gave me major panic attacks all the way throughout!).

What a great idea! I loved learning about eveyone that I have been corresponding with! I am Karen, 25, and I currently live in NC. I am a Chicago-land native. My husband and I just celebrated our one year anniversary. What is the secret to a 41 year marriage? Congrats!
Anyway, we moved here 3 years ago so that he could go to Duke for his Nurse Practitioner degree. Currently, he is looking for a job in IL so that we can hopefully move back there in June. (my mom has already has plans for us to stay with her while we look for a house. she is a bit excited. she also can't wait to have Teagan in the house- a dog lover without a dog- although i'm working on her at the moment...). I teach 3rd grade at a year round school here and enjoy it (most of the time :) ). We love the ocean and the mountains but miss our families and the land just ain't flat enough!
I noticed that there are a lot of people from england on the site. I visited for a month in 2001 and absolutely LOVED it (i have also been to austria and ireland). If i went back to europe, I would definitely go there first. I went for a theatre in england class and saw tons of plays while I was there. I am also a HUGE Beatles fan and so is my hubby (our wedding song was "something"). This common interest is what first got us talking.
I have one other pet- sasha, a russian blue rat. We lost our beloved Maggie (another rat) back in November. If you like dogs but are looking for a good rodent pet, I highly suggest rats- smart, friendly, clean - If you want more info, feel free to contact me!
I am also an avid reader and am always on the lookout for a good book! I like lots of different kinds of music, and I have to admit that the country-music laden south has rubbed off on me a bit and country has begun to trickle into my collection.
Oh, yeah, and I love dogs!

I was doing 2 packes of 120 menthols a day, saw what was coating the windows and glass on pictures, decided that didn't need to be getting into my dogs lungs and quit. Hubby has half hearted tried a doze times but spends all his time moaning about how hard it is, how bad he wants a smoke, it was easier for me because I had only smokeed 28 years and he had smoked longer, etc, etc.

Hey peepz!
I'm Teagan Limer and i am 9 years old. I live in Rothienorman, Scotland, UK. I am tottally mad about animals and they are probably the only thing i think about. They are the next best things to my familt and friends. I have two dogs, they are Border Collie X sister and they are called Kira and Tasha I am mad about instant messenging (MSN Messenger) and i talk to all my m8s and my dad coz he has a account with MSN Messenger. My dad and stepmum lives in England but i live in Scotland with my mum, stepdad, half-sister and half- brother. And of course my horses and dogs. My fav animal would have to be a dog coz they are very loyal and fun-to-have dogs. And as i am so soft i even let them sneak into other rooms in the house when my mum isn't looking! We live out in a big house in the contry and we don't tack our dogs for walk coz every day the run about in our big gardens. They probably run about ten-twelve miles everyday! I got to Rothienorman Primary school. It is a big school that we have just moved into at the end of last year. It has a massive gym hall with lots of disco lights for when we have school parties or discos. And in every class there is a plasma screen tv!

Hi Teagan, welcome, what a lucky girl to have all those wonderful pets and to live in Scotland. Wow.

Hi Teagan, welcome!
It sure does sounds wonderful up there in Scotland! My kids would be very jealous to know you have a plasma screen TV in each classroom! Wowee :)
I'll send them to have a look at your website, I'm sure they'll enjoy it, they are animal mad too :)
