View Full Version : Best food for my doberman
I want the absolute best i can give my dobermans, does any body know any healthy recipe's i can make for them or commercial foods to purchase?
Something that is really healthy and helps them develope muscle and size, Ive heard that home recipe's are better than caned foods and most commercial foods, I personally beleive this but was wondering on your opinion.
Thanks, i value all of your opinions and will be happy to get as much advice as possible on this.

I Have Heard That A Lot Of People On Here Use Canidae, Seems To Be Very Popular, And I Am Sure That Someone Will Post About It. I Use Purina One, It Was What A Trainer Told Someone I Know To Use. I Like It, It Is Good Food, And Affordable.

I feed a raw holistic diet to my Dobermans and they do awesome. It takes time, dedication and lots fo research but is well worth it.
:)
I can help you if you decide to go that route.
Thanks guys, I read what i could about raw holistic diet and from what i read apart from being all natural food it also prolongs their life and it basically involves grains, vegetables, fruits right? it sounds real healthy, does it also involve meat though?
Could you please educate me a little further on this subject, iam curious & interested and considering doing it myself with your help if possible.
Any more suggestions would be greatly apreciated.

I hope that neutering the dogs will stop the problem and you can keep
them.I was told by people that it took about 6 mths to see a change in them so you might have to be,still, very careful.
As for the food ,I use Innova Evo,it's suppose to be the closest to raw diet.
By the way, where are the pictures of these 2 babies.L

HI Doby.
No, there are no grains other then milled flax in a RAW diet. Mostly meats, supplements and also puree'd veggies.

If Doberman's dogs are anything to go by then whatever she's doing is wonderful. Doberman's your dogs do look awesome - in fact their coats look like silk.

For a beginner RAW is not for you right now. Your better off with a good kibble that equals just as good as u must also add vitamins and alot of additives to RAW.
Flint River Ranch, Innova, Eagle Pack, Wsong, Bil Jac frozen next thing to RAW but cooked, Pro Plan chicken n Rice, Neutro Ultra, Canidae, many many out there to pick and choose from.
I had an English Bulldog lifespan was 8 yrs, she lived near ll yrs and she ate medium brands and was kept well, so is u provide proper exercise, fresh water, good supplements such as springtimeinc.com to promote better health and longer life a decent dog kibble is good enough. Wet with warm water and stir ten seconds to let gases escape and no Bloat.:D

Actually you do not have to add additives to RAW just supplements like Cod liver oil on occassion, brewer's yeast for Vitamin B ( we should all take that :D ), flax oil or milled flax seed, oils such as canola, sunflower or olive oil and a few other things that are normal supplements that you and I take.
It is not that hard but not as easy as taking out a bag and scooping a bit into a bowl. ;)
RAW feeding is not for everyone but it is a healthy choice for those who have the time and dedication. I will not go back.
BTW, thanks Jake2006, they are good example of what RAW feeding can accomplish. :D
Thanks all good info, Doberman's could you direct me were to go to learn exactly how to do it, i would like to try and follow it, atleast to try it and give it a go.
Thanks
