Im giving our new pup 4 meals of butchers puppy dog food and prdigree small bite mixer, he has a third of a can (theres 300g in a can) and a good handfull of mixer each feed, i only got him on friday night but he seems to have lost a bit of weight. He was skinny to start with. The one we got him from said she had taken him to the vets last thursday and he had been wormed, when we bought him home he threw up all over the car seat and it was full of worms. The food she had out for the pups (there were two more) looked awfull, she said it was chudleys but it looked like meat to us and was covered in flies:sicksmiley:
So do you think im feeding enough? Or should i change it? I cant get chudleys from our pet store. Im wondering if i should worm him and assume he hasnt been done, or would that be a big no no if he has? Never had problems with worms our other dogs have always been wormed on a regular basis even as little pups.
Our other dogs are 9 & 10 years so its a long time since we had a pup in the house and eedings changed! Our other dogs have vitalin working dog food and a few bonio/gravy bones for something hard to chew.

If he threw up worms he needs wormed badly they are taking over his stomach. I would worm him in a morning after a fast all night, wait and feed him at noon and the rest thereafter in spurts. It sounds like your feeding him lots but if he has worms it means nothing. Get him on a good schedule of worming and keep him on it, i would this fall hot lime the yard where the dogs go to kill eggs, etc. I do it in springtime after a winters worth of dogs going.

i personally, having feed Chudleys a few years ago , would feed him James Wellbeloved puppy. BTW also worm him again. use a good wormer like Drontal they can be bought from the vet or are cheaper online at somewhere like www.vet-medic.

The reason he is losing the weight is because of the worms. Make sure you get worming tablets from the vets as the ones you buy from the petshop are not good strong enough hence why you can get them over the counter so to speak. I would get him on a good qaulity kibble if I was you, like someone suggested JW Puppy or similar.

Thats sound advice, thanks.
Lassie i cant get the link to work, it COULD be my computer im having a bit of "fun" with it.
I will worm him again, i cant understand people, why give the pups food with flys on? And why say he has been wormed when he hasnt? All three pups had dull coats, Oh well, a good wormer, a good diet and lots of love and he will think hes in heaven:)
