Hi Guys,
When my husband and I adopted our puppy we got a month of free pet insurance with her. Now that the month is coming to an end, we have an option to purchase it, and I was just wondering what everyone's opinion on it is and whether anyone has it? Thanks!

I got pet insurance on one of my dogs (the other was unisurable because of a past malignancy). Last fall we had a series of events (swallowed ball, injured knee, severe vomiting and dehydration) which left us in the poorhouse. Ironically, since getting the insurance, we have had not one vet visit! Go figure!
We got VPI. Our vet recommended it. Have no idea how good it is, as we haven't needed to use it yet.

go for an insurance that covers your dog for life and read the small print! my dogs are covered with direct line insurance

I would carry on the insurance - we too have made huge claims on it - and they've been brilliant.
I use PetPlan - I only have to pay the first £60 of any claim, then the vet claims directly from them (but the vet won't do direct claim with ANY other insurer - says they've caused too much grief over payments)
I have two dogs, one insured & one not, so far never made a claim on it as vet bills have been smallish after considering the excess is like £50....
only reason I keep it on is for the 3rd party liability.
although should the dog ever break a leg or need major surgery it will be handy.

I had it and foundI was spending more then what I was paying to the vet. I had the basic accident insurance. It was cheap enough but hardly worth it.
I do know of people that have it and have had to use it. If you can find a good plan that is reasonably priced then go for it but for me I don't think I wil gte it again.

I've been looking at various different companies on the internet and getting quotes. More th>n seem pretty good and they cover for life. I've been looking at Sainsburys per insurance too, but can't seem to find out if they would be covered for life with them. I guess I'll have to give them a call :)
