hi, my dog is in heat, and I have a question. what is everyone's opinion on natural births and spay/neuter contracts? Good ideas, or no?

The puppy I'm getting comes with a neuter contract. I find that it's a good idea, although there is a chance the new owners could breach the contract, and you'd have to take them to court/etc.

For mine, if I ever breed him, I get sued and the breeder takes the dog back.

I think spay/nueter contracts are good. There are way too many people who breed that should not.

IMO the spey/neuter contracts are a brilliant idea. There's far too many abandoned animals out there :(

Natural birth? Surely that has to be better than a caesarean? Sorry, I'm no breeder and can't really discuss the pros and cons but I know which way I'd prefer if it was me - the natural way! All whelpings I've 'attended' have been totally natural with as little interference as possible...

Poor things don't get to have the gas and air tho....wonderful stuff....;)

Spay/neuter contracts are great! Everyone that gets a pup from me if not going to show must sign one and if they happen to even an accident breed a pup on a spay/neuter contract they get a fine for damages of 2500.00 and I take back the pup/dog.

I think all dogs should be spayed/ neutered when they are about 1 year old unless they are to be used for breeding. There are far too many unwanted dogs about. I rescued a poor little Rotti pup I have had her since the 5th Dec. 2005 and she is turning into the loveliest dog you could ever meet and a friend of mine is just waitting to be told when she can go to pick up her rescued Doberman. These two are lucky but look at all the ones that are not saved in time and go through years of cruelty. It makes me so angry.

Im not sure how spay/neuter contracts would go down over here when selling a pedigree pup.Although we do neuter ones that come into our rescue before rehoming them.

In my opinion ALL dogs that will not be used for purebred breeding should be spayed/neutered. There is a very serious problem with dog overpopulation, and besides, who wants to deal with blood, barking, false pregnancies, ect? :)

And even if it's purebred breeding, they should be proven dogs. There are plenty of purebred puppy mills... >^^;<
