It was 2 yrs. this week since my beloved dog Max passed away.

Max was a beautiful black and white Pitbull/Lab mix that I found at the local shelter. He had been picked up by the animal control officer and brought in he weighed only 17lbs., was sick with pneumonia, and covered with fleas and ticks. When I found him 2 weeks later he had put on some weight, and was flea free. It was love at first sight, he gave me a look of pure love, and I had to have him. It didn't matter that it would take alot of work to get him back to health, he deserved it.

Over the next 2 years Max became the best dog anyone could hope to have, sweet, kind, and gentle. And with such a strong desire to be with me that he followed me everywhere, and was always bringing me presents (pieces of things that he found outside usually).

October 11, 2004 was like any other day. That evening I was helping my Mom with dinner. I turned Lilly and Max out on their tie-outs for their evening run. A few minutes later someone came to the door, and told me that Max had slipped his collar, run into the road and been hit by a pickup truck. I ran out and was greeted by the sight of my poor baby, lying in the road, dying from a broken back and severe internal injuries. I will never forget the fact that even though he was in terrible pain he tried to get to me. I sat down next to him and pulled him into my lap. He sighed, gave me that look of total and complete love, and passed on. :sad-smiley-002:

Rest in peace dear freind and know that your family loves you and misses you. Your absence is still felt in our home, but you are not absent from my heart.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I know exactly how you felt because about a week ago on 10/07/06 my chihuahua Holly Noel was hit by a car. The vet said she would never walk again so we put her down. I'm still very much grieving, but from reading your post I now know that later on the grief will grow smaller and her memory will only grow bigger.
