Hello everyone.
My name is Michael. I found this forum by chance searching for some forums specific to my two breeds. My boy is named Kingston and my little girl is named Marley. I hope you like them.
Doberman's and no-id you guys will appreciate them.
Here is Kingston (yes, he's a blue). He looks mean and intimidating but he's really a 90lb worthless turd.

Oh I like parrots :)
One of our stores downtown has a very large white bird in it ( it is the owners pet ) I ask if he lived in the store full time and the owner said yes then demostrated his attributes. He told the bird lights out and had me walk across the aisle and the bird started screaming " INTRUDER" LOL scared me to death. It turns out mr. bird is the night watchman. I don't remember what kind it is I know he told me but I can't remember.

I used to work with a couple quarter horse breeders. They are still very dear friends, so we took her out there to live with them. They have a bazillion cats and an Airedale Terrier. They're great buddies and she's soo happy out there. My boys and I sure miss her though. It's a good thing we get to see her often. She was just miserable in our apartment all day and her poor bladder's too small to hold it, even in a kennel. Instead of making her lay in her own waste all day, I knew she'd be happier at the ranch. She think she's a ranch dog anyway. Thanks for the welcome and God bless!!!

Hello, everyone! I'm new to the forum. I'm in a course right now to be a Dog Obedience Instructor, but one day I hope to train service/mobility dogs. Here's a few snap shots of my border collie/husky mix girl, Sara.

http://myspace-585.vo.llnwd.net/00292/58/59/292709585_m.jpg
I taught her to curl her lip using the clicker! :D It makes for good photos.
I adopted her from a family with 2 small children who lived in a small mobile home with no room for a dog. She's only 57 pounds, but they kept her tied outside most of the time, but was seemingly housetrained. She's 5 years old and I started her in agility (just for fun) last year. She caught on like a fish in water!

It looks like this is the place to post pics so here goes...
My name is Jean, and I live in a secluded part of the US, where the moose and the deer roam. So we have plenty of room for our dogs, and they are hardly ever on a leash.
Here are pics of them getting up in the morning, playing in the yard, trying to get me off the computer, wading in a creek, and waiting for dinner. I can't do more than five files at once so the rest will have to wait!

Wolflady, your dog is trying to bury his food because he does not have a fridge. If he did, he might put his food in ther for later. Try feeding him less or at a different time. Oh, and Welcome! :wave2:

Yep, we did it! We bought a collie pup to join our clan. He is a real sweetie. He seems to have a nice calm demenour and is a real nice companion. He walks around following me wherever I go. :D
Our older dog camp is still getting used to the idea. Cody the pup, wants to play and has attempted a few times, but Camp the older dog will have none of it. Oh well.........We just separate them to give Camp a break. Camp is upstairs with my hubby and Cody is here with me.
Anyway here is a picture of our new member.

Hi Everyone
I have just become a member today
Hope to send you some Question later
Hi, I'm Amy, I live in Ranger Texas, or rather outside Ranger, with my best friend Buddy. I'm not sure what breed he is, only that he's a character, and a major sweetheart. I met him as he was about to be carted off by Animal Control, who had yet to arrive, and I just could not allow that to happen.
Buddy lives life on his terms for the most part, and I do my best to keep him safe because he has a tendancy to get himself into trouble if not kept in check.
He loves everyone he meets, and has a big fan club here in Ranger where we moved in January. I got him a kitten, also a rescue, dumped near where we live, and he and Sammy get on famously. Buddy has enormous feet, and weighs in at 128 lbs. so far. He's young, prolly not more than two years old.

Wow! What a handsome young dog. ;)
Thankya Pauline :)
I'll tell him you said that!
BTW, he's incredibly strong and can haul me down the road a long ways before I can stop him when he gets on a scent. He wants to play with the neighbors cattle and seems to think they are just bigger dogs. No way I'm letting this guy run lose in Texas around cattle, I know where that goes.

Hi I'am S-J,
I have two puppies Dori a golden retriever who is 3 months and Katie a german sheperd who is 8 weeks.
Katie is good and quiet at the moment, Dori is jumping off the walls most the time, she gets a bit rough with katie when playing so have to pull them a part, but hoping Katie will put on a bit of weight soon and will be able to look after herself.

Hi SJ, I am Tina, I have two Dogs, Jake ( A Blue Merle Collie) who I adopted in December last year, and Jen ( A Labrador/Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix) who I adopted last week, Jake was very placid when we got him, just grateful to have a home I think, but Jen was bouncing of the walls too, I was visiting my Homeapath, and she gave me some Phospherous remedy, it had a fantastic effect, Jen is now very laid back. Can I suggest you visit a homoepathic vet (or human practitioner)

I don't have a dog yet but I'm hoping to get one some time later in the year.
I'm going to try and get some pics of my bosses jack russells because I spend most of my time with them. They are called Jez and Bracken -the puppies (20ishweeks old) and 'puppy' the 4 year old. Jez and puppy (pip) are broken coated. Thy are all fab and i love them as if they were my own (sad isn't it!?)

Hey Irena!
I tried to reply you the other day, but I think my lappy was acting up anyways I will send another one. I am sooo glad to see that someone else has a jackrussel. I feel like I have so many questions. I have officially had Duke 2 weeks as of today, hooray! He is a LOT of energy and always on the go. I am kinda worried about him, I dont really know what to do when I am at Uni. Sure my classes are spread out and I will be able to come home at lunch, but will he be okay in his kennel?
We bought him from a pet store (I know bad news bears) but he was so cute I couldn't help it. He has 3 of his dew claws taken out, I guess the breeder must have missed one. My neighbour has been telling me not to worrie about taking the last one out as it is a painful experience. His tail has also been cut. At the pet store he was kinda the "leader of the group" and when we bought him we didnt really think to much of it. He isn't big enough to have all his shots so the only puppy intereaction he has is through the fence. Now I know puppies bite when they play, but it seems like his biting has been getting worse. We are thinking that this may be a dominant/ territorial thang. What do I do??
Anyways, looking forward to hearing from you soon. I will post pic's once I learn how. :)

Hey "first time puppy"! Yes I do own a jack russel...but he's a mix. Ol' Gus is around 13 yrs. old. Not as active as yours I'm sure. HAHA! They do have ALOT of energy and need room to run it off. I don't believe in cages or kennels, but I don't condemn people who use them. It's just not for me. My 3 dogs have run of the house but there's is usually someone home at all times. When no one's home we block off the bedrooms and they have free roam of the kitchen and living room. I'm very thankful that accidents are rare. Anything else i can help you with feel free to ask!

I am so glad to hear that more ppl have jackrussels. I can sleep better at night knowing I have a support system. :) I have been keeping Duke in his kennel at night and during the day obviously when no one is home. I cant wait till he is house trained, so that he could just hang out. Now, he is a dominant dog. What can I do to make it so that he understands that we are in charge? and it's funny cause he has no problems with men.
Another question:
Last week he got his first set of shots and the Vet said that he should just stay in the back yard. When can I take him out and unleash him upon the world? After his 2nd set?

Howdy. I'm the canine trainer for a state police agency in the Southeast US.
Retired military, where I spent 23 years in the Military Working Dog Program. Totaled, military and civilian police canine experience is over 40 years. So that makes me, old. I still enjoy training and working dogs. As you would imagine we have drug and explosives detectors, patrol dogs, cadaver dogs and a sittin' on the front porch droopy eared Bloodhound. He slobbers a bit but can track a popcorn fart in a blizzard. I look forward to reading and at some point joining in some dog discussions.

Hi to all you dog lovers -- my name is Monica and I live in Cleveland, Ohio. I just stumbled upon this site and thought I'd tell you about my baby, Princess Daisy (my husband wanted Princess and I wanted Daisy) a tri-colored Beagle about 7 years old. We've had her almost 2 years. She was a lost dog and even though her owner was found he said we could have her. He is probably a hunter and she was getting older so he let us have her. I, personally, can't understand that. But his loss is our gain for she is the most laid-back, sweet girl we have ever had. We love her so much! I don't know how to do pics but will hopefully find out how. Thanks

09-07-2006, 11:06 PM
Hello, I don't think I have properly introduced myself.
I'm onedog.
We, my dog and I are very happy to be here.
I've been reading the posts, and one thing that seems to connect us most is puppies - we seem to have the same problems, no matter where we live!
In Australia, in some areas, we have restrictions on the number of dogs you may have in a backyard.
We don't have Rabies, so that's one less "shot" our puppies have to have, but we do have paralysis ticks, and now is the season for them -Spring/Summer/Autumn.
We do have the toilet training, chewing when teething and all the other problems though.
Knowing other people are going through the same thing, just makes you grit your teeth and be determined to be a better guardian.

Tilda is the black bitch, German Shepherd cross (I think with a Rottie as she has all the Rottie markings). Dennis is also a German Shepherd cross but crossed with what has been a mystery & topic of discussion for years now.
They are both rescue dogs & Tilda has only been with us for 2 months. Expect to hear more about her - she has been on the short list to go back to the shelter several times!
- pic is so small!! but clicking on it seems to enlarge the photo. will try again maybe later.

Hi...I am new and admittedly computer illiterate! If I was devoted to learning the computer, then I'd have less time to devote to the two most wonderful Yorkies in the whole world. ...that would leave even LESS time for my husband! This site looks to be a great source of information. Personal info...recently retired in Florida for winter and South Dakota for summer. I have a male and a female Yorkie....both nine years old. The female I researched breeders for months to find...the male I rescued. They are equally wonderful and loving pets in what seems to be good health. I am so blessed. Look forward to learning many new things from your site!

Hi everyone, first post here. Here's a pic of me and my manly beast Hank. He's a 2 year old lab/basenji mix - although he looks more like a hyena.
He looks peaceful here, but this was after several hours of wrestling dozens of people at a 4th of July party. Don't let him fool you.

Hi all.
I just found this site, and would like to introduce myself and my pal, Bubba.
Bubba is a maltise with a great disposition and an abiding love for all.
He is a bit spoiled, but very sweet.
Sometimes we get mad when he missbehaves, but he has run off a couple of times, and we were freaking out!
He always winds up being picked up by the cops. We live on an island off Miami beach, and we can just go to the police station to pick him up.
I am a husband and father and I work for the power co.

Hi to you all Iam new to this forum, my husband and myself have just got a 9 week old Jack Russell Puppy who is quite a character we are having a lot of fun with him.
We recently had to have our 14 yr old German Shepherd Max put to sleep as he had lost complete use of his back legs and had a tumor, we did say that we would not have another dog as it broke our hearts. But here we are again with Alfie.
Well I hope to visit this site on a regular basis looking for help and advice.

Hello, I have just registered.....I have three own dogs, Rio my beautiful Estrela Mountain Dog who is nine and has been with me for three years - she came through the breed rescue. Then there is Trevor, more affectionately known as MR Trevor, he is three and a Bitsa - I think he has collie/whippet/terrier in him, he has been with me for 2 and a half years, I found him at Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, he is one of their fallen angels. Then there is Byron, he is a 6 year old Great Dane and he is the most recent personal addition having only been here 4/5 months - I found him through breed rescue too.
I also have in the house presently another bitsa - see pic on signature - who is a Hearing Dog puppy I am socialising. He is 5 months old now and has been in my care since he was 6 and a half weeks old - he is a bit special. Also I am fostering a brindle Greyhound pup presently, he is called Tizer and is 11 weeks old, again he came to me at 6 and a half weeks old - he is now looking for his forever home.
I am in my 40s and a dog training instructor. I teach in a club on a Monday evening and also do one to one training and some behavioural work ( I know my limitations:) ).
I am a Mum to two teenage daughters, 15 and 18, only the younger one lives at home though. I have a wonderful OH.
Look forward to introducing my dogs properly in pics in the right section and chatting with new friends.

Hey, I'm Josie and this is a bit about me. I love animals, especially dogs and wolves. I don't like it when people dress their dogs up: a coat to keep them warm is fine, but stilettos and lipstick are unnecessary! Hey, anyway, I have a border collie cross spaniel called Max. He's five years old and very active and sweet. We got him from a rescue shelter- he used to live in a city and we've worked out that he's had a rough past. He hates being left alone, and his old owner probably left him at home all day. He likes chasing cars (anyone got tips how to stop him?) and HATES the postman. His favourite activity is walkies, and he'll do ANYTHING to go on them. His tactics include soulful eyes, whimpering and barking. If all else fails, he howls, but that's when he's really sad! awwww. He hates tall men and always barks at them, only biting if they try to hurt me or my family, make aggressive gestures or flap and shout at him. I could talk about him for days, but I've got to go. If anyone has another cool dog they want to talk about, come talk with me!

Susie17, I second on the cute dog harness!
Hi everybody, I registered a few days ago, but neglected to post in this thread and tell you all about myself and my dog Shelby.
About myself:
I live in the U.S.A.
Some of the things I enjoy are time with my family, baking, cooking, sewing, playing tennis, web design, and rollerblading with Shelby.
I love animals! Especially dogs! I also have an interest in horses, and would like to learn how to ride them someday.
I'm a Web Designer & Programmer.
About Shelby; her story -
In 2003 we lost our beloved German Shepherd/Collie female mix, her name was also Shelby, to cancer. She was a very loving family dog. A big dog with a big heart:)
We couldn't live without having a dog in the house, for as far back as I can remember, we always did.
We visited a local veterinarian office that was also a no-kill animal shelter. We walked into this room, that had a variety of caged dogs and cats. Something caught our attention, in one of the cage's was a food deprived mother dog and her two young pups. A man had brought them in, he found them abandoned on a highway. How anyone could be so cruel is beyond me. We spent some time with the young pups which were very friendly and calm, they sat in front of us with their little tails wagging back and forth, just so adorable they were...
The shelter mentioned that there was a house that was also owned by them, in a nearby city that was being used to house over 100 dogs on a large piece of land. So we took the drive and went out to see it. I don't think I'll ever go back there again.
We knew which dog was for us. We went back to the vet office and decided, hands down, we were taking one of those little girls home with us. The adoption fee was $200, and it she was WELL worth it. I wouldn't give her up for $1 million dollars. The fee included the spay when she became of age.
If we had known how great a dog she would turn out to be, her sister would've come home too.
Shelby is 3 yrs old now and the best dog a family could ask for. She is loving, friendly, smart, playful, calm, gentle...and the list goes on:) She has the prettiest brown eyes I've ever seen in a dog...
I took this photo with our Nikon camera when she was a pup.
http://members.core.com/%7Efsteffan/ShelbyPuppy_Nikon.jpg
and here is what she looks like now, all grown up...
http://members.core.com/%7Efsteffan/Shelby_familyroom.jpg
So have I rambled on a lot? I think so, but now you all know a little (or should I say a lot) about myself, and our dog Shelby...

OK, I'm from Central London, and I have two Westies Harri and George, both girls. I know, I know, why have they got boys names? Well basically I always wanted to call my dog Harri but I'm not a fan of male dogs, I prefer bitches. Anyway, about 2 years after getting Harri we decided to get her a companion so we got George. We thought "well, Harri has a male name so why not give the other one a male name?" And besides, you could say they were called Harriet and Georgina if you wanted to be pedantic, lol.
Anyway, here they are, George is on the left, Harri on the right........
http://www.willschoice.com/Toocute.JPG
George is now 7 and a half and Harri has just turned 10. I want another one but hubby won't let me, bah! ;)
