View Full Version : Me and my dog were just in a big car accident

I was traveling to work in the rain and my car (a mid-engined sports car) hit oil and spun into a wall causing the airbags to deploy (and also writing the car off).

My 5 month old puppy was on the passanger seat and not restrained.

I am guessing that he was flung onto the airbag, as he seems 100% fine.

Is there any way I can tell if he has internal injuries? I am very worried that he got hurt more than he is letting up.

I have 'felt' him everywhere, and he doesnt seem in any pain, does not have a limp or anything at all...

I can get a new car, but I am just so glad that Chip survived. He is such a trooper!

I would take him to the vet just to get him checked out and make sure!

That is terrible what happened. That is one reason my dog usually rides in a crate.

I am glad that you are alright and that it sounds like Chip is fine too

Oh no :( Poor both of you.

I'm sorry to hear about your accident, but very pleased to hear that Chip seems OK. I agree with the others, a trip to the vet won't hurt and is worth having him checked out.

Wow , that sounds horrible!! Glad you are ok and the dogs are too. Yes, a trip to the vet is on order for the dogs.

Please let us know how things turn out.

Oooooo... this is one of the reasons that I seatbelt Eevee when she is sitting on any of the seats. A doggy seatbelt harness is a nice investment just in case something like this happens. Once I get more money, I'll probably invest in a less cheap one...

Glad your dog was lucky enough to make it! Somebody up there loves him! >^_^<

Glad you are both OK, as you say you can get another car but if anything happens to our babies thats differant. I would get the vet to give him a check up to make sure he is alright. Take care.

Glad it seems like you guys are okay.

I heard on another forum that airbags can easily kill dogs, so I don't allow Maddi in the front seat, ever. I've been wanting to get a seatbelt for her... do they work well?

I'm sorry about the crash, but it's good that you and Chip are alright. I would tack Chip to the vet anyway just so you can be 100% that Chip is healthy and his whole body is working probably.

OK - I took him to the Vet for a check up, and everything is fine!

I have also invested in a seat belt for car rides

Thanks for everyone's support!
