Hi - We have a 5yr old Rotti. I've noticed his been scratching his chest a lot. i looked at it just now and its going bald, but there are lots of big bits of dandruff that are a yellow colour and its stuck to his fur?? could this be mites? mange? It does look really disgusting!!! and its matted his fur - anyone have any ideas??? The yellow stuff could be the skin, where he has scratched so much. i cant see any traces of fleas or mites!!

I would get a vet's opinion but it very well may be mange or mites. Manage is caused by a mite; there are a couple of different kinds of manage and only the vet can deteremine what kind your dog may have.

Also it could be fleas, fleas cause excessive itching and can cause bald spots from the dog scratching.

Either way you should get a vet to have a look.
