3 goldens

Yesterday morning our 17 year old cat left us. Her first three years she was an indoor cat, but then decided the litter box was not for her--the bathtub or closet floor (with carpet) was better. No changing her, so she ended up having to go outside.
She never went past the yard on either side of ours. She loved to follow us around in the yard when we were doing yard work and would purr and "talk" to us. She always came to greet us--would be in the driveway before we got our car in. Was the same with our sons & families. She must have recognised the cars.
The grandkids now ages 6,4 and3 could tote her around by her head, her tail, any position and if you felt her throat, she was purring. She never hissed, bit, scratched or tried to get away from them. She loved kids and would go next door to visit the kids there if they were playing in the yard.
We had a "cat house" for her on the front porch and she had access to the garage, so she could always be safe. She was not scared of any dog and her best friend was the mama chihuahua next door. Tara is let out several times a day to do her business and she and Pippi always ran to great each other. Pippi was a very unusual cat to say the least.
She was black with a little white on her chest, white whiskers, white front paws and and her back feet and legs were white to the knees--hence the name Pippi Longstocking.
We were out late Sunday night and Pippi didn't come to greet us. We figured she may be long been alseep in the garage and didn't hear us. Yesterday morning hubby had an early dental appointment. He went out and came back and said something was wrong with Pippi. She couldn't use her back legs. I said we would take her to the vet as soon as he got home. But she died before he got in--laying in the sun as she liked to do on warm (not hot) days. We buried her in the flower bed of wandering due along the garage. She loved to "hide" in there. We don't know what happend. Did some kid on a bike or skate board run into her and break her back or back legs? The kids next door were playing soccer out front Sunday afternoon, had she gone over there to visit with them and been accidently kick or hit with soccer ball. Or did she perhaps have a stroke and was paralized? We don't know. We just know we miss that great kitty that got love and attention from us every day.
