Hi, this past summer, I just became a pet owner to a lovely cream colored pomeranian, my first dog ever! He's now a little over six weeks old and is still continuously devolping his adult pomeranian coat.
I want him to look amazing and fluffy how pomeranians are supposed to, but my sister insists on slapping this ugly, "thicker" collar on him because its White Sox.... It looks like something that should be put on a Lab, its horrible!!
Aaanyway, this collar is definitely intruding upon his fluffiness, and I hate it, except I don't know what kind of a collar would even suit him to begin with? Every pom picture I look at, they are never even wearing collars (or maybe they are too hidden in the fluff)...
What type of a collar would be best for my lil guy?

Don't you just love all of that fluff, and the tail curled up on the back. I've found the best coller is a leather rolled coller, it's thinner than the usual coller, and Pheobes (pom/sheltie mix) fur will fluff out over it, you can't even see the coller, just her tags hanging, It seems to not rub as much either, her old coller used to make the fur on her neck frizzy. The one I found, was from the petedge.com website, it is a 1/2 inch wide rolled leather. I bought it a long time ago, but maybe they still have them. It was pricey, but well made and will last a log time. Would love to see pics of you're lil guy.

Toy breeds can suffer from a collapsed windpipe if they are allowed to pull on their leash while wearing a collar. So, at least while teaching your puppy to walk on-leash I recommend an adjustable nylon harness:)

Hi there, congrats on your new pup! If you think the collar is too thick, change it out for a thinner one. Honestly, by the time your pup's coat grows in, you probably won't be able to see it anyway. We bought Hemi a little spiked leather collar (my husband wanted him to have one, lol) and the only time you can really see it is when he bens his head down. Any other time, all you see is fluff ;o)

Yeah, I know of mini schnauzers that have these collars and they are great. And stronger then the thinner small dog nylon collar.

Sorry for the late reply but I got confused with petforum.com and it was confusion haha. Anyway, I purchased the nice leather roll collar and I hope he likes it except he doesnt fit into 10 or 12 so I had to make my own holes. I lost my camera cord or I would post pictures! Thanks for your replies :)

My puppy is 1/2 pomeranian and 1/2 mini poodle. My groomer recommended the rolled leather collar to me, too. I bought it but it was too big, so I exchanged it and that one is too big, too, so I also am going to make a hole in it. What did you use to make the hole?

Well if you get a thick one and you think it looks weird get a thinner one but i'd get the one that looks more cute on the dog.
