Belle to have surgery

My youngest brother called me tonight to tell me their Bassette Hound is having surgery tomorrow for what the vet believes (and hopes) is a fatty tumor on her leg. I think Belle is 8. anway, the vet is doing chest x-rays, etc and if it turns out it is cancer and it has spread, Mickey is going to tell the vet to not let Belle wake up. He said he would not want her to have a few short weeks of healing from this surgery and then be in pain and death soon afterwards. They lost thier 9 year old dalmatian last summer to fused spine and arthritis. So prayers and good thought sent for Belle would be appreciated.

She is doing fine. It was a fatty tumor and was so spread out she has a 10" incision on her leg--almost from hip to foot, but the vet told my brother he got it all, so shouldn't regrow. It was all in the skin and not attachd to the meat, or at least that is the way Mickey described it to me. Mickey said it was "an ugly thing". Belle gets around just fine.
