Does anyone know what to do to keep hair ornaments (clip, barette, plastic bands etc,) in the slippery hair of a Yorkie???? She shakes her head a few times and it comes right out. She's only 17 weeks, so her hair is not very long yet-----am I trying too soon???????? I even tried mousse and hair gel---what a sight that was!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so tempted to get it cut as it's covering her eyes. (Puppy hair extensions would be the solution!!!!!) Help---

You can buy dog bows and elastics online. The elastics are *tiny*. :) Have you tried putting it in with slightly damp (water only) hair? I know it's very difficult with that lovely silky hair.
My inlaws have Yorkies, and they just trim the hair over the eyes. It's an option. I wouldn't use the gel or mousse because it all has alcohol in it, and that just dries out the hair.

I used little tiny clips to keep the hair out of Max's eyes until it grew long enough to put in an band. I use the little ones, plastic, made for kids, because they don't pull when taking them out, and are a lot easier than rubber bands.

Twist the lock of hair before you put the clip in - gives more grip

Thanks everyone for your tips, I've tried all the above and as long as she doesn't move her head she's good to go!!!!! Guess I will have to wait for her hair to grow a little----I did take my thinning shears and clipped along the very edge and now it doesn't look so blunt.

Spray a tiny bit of hair spray on the clips, should stay in place.

Are you putting it up in one top knot? Her hair may be too short at the moment to keep it in, it happens in my poodles. What I do is separate the hair above each eye and put it into 'bunches' (although it looks like a pair of horns!) and the hair stays in better that way.
