Hi

Is there just the slightest, remotest possibility of reinstating the chat room?

Here I am at 0127 hours, sitting up in bed, coughing as I've got a chest infection, hubby fast asleep, and there is nobody to chat to!

I've listened to MR James Ghost Stories on my Ipod, eaten too many biscuits and just want someone to chat with!

Hello Carole,
Chest infection..........remedy, take a good quality cognac, warm to body temperture, add an equal amount of shrub (philips of bristol), drink it at your lesiure. guaranteed to smooth the rawness and ease the symptons.

Shrub is an alcoholic cordial , it is made by 'Philips of Bristol' and was used by the naval officers mixed with rum or brandy to help ward off any ailments. The ratings used to get a tot of rum.
I have a preference for shrub but I must confess the correct cordial for brandy is lovage & that is specifically made to go with brandy, it transforms the drink and makes it 'morish' (drink til dawn).
You can get this from any decent off licence, or maybe tesco. It cost about £6.00p a bottle

Oh InnKeeper thanks.

Now I should have known that - I come from a naval family - what is the saying my great grandfather used 'men were made of steel and ships were made of wood' - is that right?

I'll try that - anything to get rid of this raking cough.
Thanks again

(We used to live just outside of Calne near to Avebury its a lovely county)

You're welcome Carole,
This part of the country is ok, but I would rather live in the highlands or Skye. Spent some time in Malliag many years ago on the trawlers, good memories.
Oh, by the way lovage has an alcohol content of 5.3%, can be taken on its own or mixed with brandy, experiment with the volume to your liking.
To get the best for chesty conditions it is important that it is warm, (not hot). A couple of shots before going to bed, (also stops the falling over thing), will sort you out & make you burn the condition out, gives you a good nights sleep.

Ah, thanks for your good wishes.

I wonder if we will ever get a chat room again. Its not looking too promising is it?

Should we set up our own chat facility on yahoo or similar?

Hi Sandi - how is hubby?
So, if we all download Yahoo IM can we have a chat - i.e. does that mean that say 12 members can chat with each other at the same time?

Now I'm sitting up

Urm yes but not tonight because i am on the laptop (xmas pressie its my brothers old one- i'm only allowed to use it for anything but work, opps!) And all my pics are on my mums comp.

Somewhere i have pics of the JRTs I dogsit for aswell. Must dig them out. They were cute when the were little (now they are just destructive)- Today the two 8month olds ripped all the stuffing out of the back of my friends sofa! Opps! She's regretting putting their crate in storage now!

Oh, and you're never too young to have insomnia. I haven't slept properly since I was about 12. Still, think how much time people without insomnia waste sleeping!
