shes been escaping the pen and we think she getting out at the tin house at the side of the fence so we're taking that down....

sometimes dogs like to play rough, and the lead makes it look much more serious than it really is. if you take the dog off the lead and allow the dogs to sniff it will be better. on the other hand he may be trying to protect you from the other dog and intimidate them.

good luck!

I went through this when I got my first rescue. I posted on every website, called every trainer crying and searched for months on how to stop her. In my case she was going violently vicious towards other dogs. I was told she was beyond help and needed to be put down by every one. The reason I am telling you this is because it is very simple to change this behaviour but for some reason no one knew the answer to it. Now I am studing animal behaviour and working in it too and found a way to stop this in my life.

She has not done this for a year and stands behind me until I give the command when another dog approaches now.

THIS IS GOING TO GET WORSE if you don't do something now to change the behaviour. Don't end up where I was...thankfully I never gave up hope on her and found a way.

Here are some quick options depending on your financial situation and weather you want a quick fix or not. There are more but they are more in depth.

1. Invest in a wireless or wire containment fence if she is escaping your pen. Mine will jump 9 foot fences to escape and I have a wireless fence. If you contact me privately I can tell you how to get this for free.

2. Get a long line (20 ft or so) and never take her off it when you are outside. You can always catch the leash but not necessarily the dog if she decides not to listen to you and runs.

3. Don't allow her not to listen to you. Pull her back on the leash and make her sit or lay down, physically do it if she won't listen. Do not allow her to get up and go after another dog. Make her stay and reward her for her good behaviours. Do not yell or punish for bad behaviours as the dog may confuse this with sound reward (a whole other page of writing) just continue to command and make her do it.

4. In my personal opinion the best thing you can do it get an e-collar. People tend to freak out when I say this but what they don't understand is that you can train a dog on an electric collar and never use the electic. Mine are both trained on the vibrate. Once you have trained them on this, there should never be a day that you command something and she doesn't respond weather she is a mile away or not. It is not mean if you use it PROPERLY. If you don't use it properly it can be a very negative thing. visit dogtra.com for more information. This is the brand that I find is the best out of all of them because it has a vibration option on it instead of just shock like some.

There is so much more that you can do to stop this, if you want to contact me privately I will tell you more.
